Need help my car won't start

    I have the airbox back together but now my car wont start. I noticed some hoses were brittle and broken so I replaced them. I have a picture attached of a part that is fried but I don't know what it is. It attaches to hoses that T off from so others. There is a nipple on the top of the part that attaches to a smaller hose. Is this a hard part to find? Is there a cross reference part that can be bought locally? Here are the pics.     Hi Joshua,

    One (or both) of your air-injection check valves have failed, a not-uncommon problem. They collect water and eventually rust, then allow backflow into this plastic valve. You'll need to replace this valve (#121751 about $70 from Daniel at Ricambi), both check valves (standard GM parts), and possibly also the small "T" where the air injection hoses merge. To my knowledge there isn't a crossover part for this valve. If you send me an email at: [email protected], I'll be glad to send you a pictorial of the procedure. Access isn't too difficult, but the old check valves can be corroded quite tightly.

    Well I went to Boblieff and bought a new air injection check valve, installed it with new hoses and bought a new battery. The damn car still wont start. Getting it towed in as he opens at 9 in the morning.

    I can't see how the air injection system would have much to do with a "no-start". I think there's something else going on.

    Out of gas?

    Go back to basics. You need spark and fuel. So check the fuses and then look at what you fixed to see if you moved or disconnected something. Does the fuel pump work. If it ran before you redid the airbox then you disrupted something while you were moving things around. Also vacuum hoses should be checked. And being that you were playing near the flywheel maybe you hit one of the sensors there or moved a connector the wrong way. Keep fishing and you'll find the problem.

    Well, I got my car back and it runs great. There was a vacuum hose disconnected below the coolant overflow that is part of a fast idle device. It was 3 hours of labor for them to figure it out. At least while the car was there I got a new trunk zipper stitched in. Hasn't worked since I've owned the car, and it bugged me. I got to put about 125 miles on the car today driving it home and then taking it through the Temecula wine country.
