For all of you vintage car guys that vote for the C/4, Daytona, etc: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4xJ6cVO_g9E&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dgI9q61z93E&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xkhn8W6CGxk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0uimXv-4hY0&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dAc_Dgbg-p8&feature=related
And I agree until someone can educate me further on the 365GTC/4, best side by side with a Daytona. But, in the interest of fairness, I really have to say that I have never ever heard any stock Ferrari that did not have a quite beautiful exhaust note - they are all pretty great in their own way. Just one more factor for all the Corvette, Porsche, and Viper people to envy and hate us from afar. Especially the Vipers.
I agree. having owned 2 355s in the past, i can tell you that car needs a tubi to get its best sound...without the tubi the 355 sounds too thin, esp under 6k rpm...the360 need a tubi for sure but sound great with it but 430 sounds amazing with the oem exhaust....the f50 sounds great stock......
...yes it does when you add 4 more cylinders. There's a clip on you-tube of a BBLM going down the straight, mind blowing. Take a stock boxer and uncork it like the 355 you posted.
To support my vote for the 312B being the best sounding track Ferrari, I refer you to the legendary Shell commercial during the oriental (I believe Hong Kong) segment. While I will stick with my 365 C4 for street in general, I will give Wayne props on the 250 series engine, one in particular attached to a SWB I heard once in particular...
Wayne, Here's one where he's folded up the mirror for a better view http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qEWgxCGQhoU The sound isn't bad but frankly, my 330 sounds better. In fact this 250 sounds just like Yale's 330 to me. Regards, Art S.
I thought my 360 with Tubi sounds great until I got a stock CS. Wow!!! The Tubi 360 now seems much too tame. Here is an awesome sounding F40LM driven by Jacques Lafitte. I believe it is not a street car though. http://youtube.com/watch?v=0YPabCzxMXM
This clip is amazing, shows the FXX at Mantorp Sweden. Can´t imagine any better noise even though it´s ALOT better irl. Will never hear that F50 GT irl I´m afraid. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQxBszvozz0
The consensus for years in the Ferrari world has been that the 365 GTC/4 is the best sounding Ferrari road car ever. The car has been slammed for its styling, its performance, maintenance and everything under the sun. But most long time Tifosi agree that when it comes to sound nothing comes close to the C4. Joe
OK, to answer this you need; NO exhaust baffles that open at .......... NO cats NO restrictors, filters or such ....... NO pollution gear to muffle the true sound NO air filters on the intake system Basically ALL those who chose a car prior the mid 60's are correct (except if you choose a race car), the rest of you are wrong.!!!!
Hard to pick just one. Cars that come to mind: Enzo, F50, 599, 250 GTO, Daytona, 275 GTB/4, F430, 360CS, any of the boxer-12s
As far as engine sounds go, I'm partial to the V-12's. Especially the one's with "Merlin" in their name. However, that and radial engines are a different discussion. I still like the Ferrari V-12's but the V-8's take me home because I grew up with big bore v-8's. Bob Wassam
