Hi, I am a newbie to Ferraris and i have a question regarding the famous Ferrari red paint. I always thought that Ferrari red has been around since 1947 and has been the same red all these years. When i went to get touch-up paint and asked for 'Ferrari red' the body shop wanted the paint code from my car to match properly. It is Rosso Corsa fer 300/12. Is it true that there are more than one Ferrari red? Did the red used vary year to year? Model to model? Thanks in advance for enlightening me. Don
Don, I just did a little research on this, I'm having my front spoiler painted for my 308 and the shop said they use PPG paint but they don't know the cross reference color code for the Glasurit 300. So I called PPG and they do have the Cross reference. They said under Rosso the PPG Code is #72489. I don't know what those # after the 300/ but here are some examples. Oh and welcome to Fchat http://ferrari-collection.net/color/ferrari_colors.htm
Hi Mike, Thanks for your quick reply. The link that you included in your reply is really great. I stand corrected.... Ferrari has more than one red. The body shop was correct in asking for the paint code. You learn something new every day don't you? Thanks again and i had a look at the picture of your 308 and it looks very nice. You have to love the design of the 308/328. Don
