Ferrari discussion with John Carmack

I remember him from an OLD car mag article, he was living my dream at a very young stage of his life.

 

Cool post. On a lesser scale I just suffered no respect at a car dealer. I went to Toyota to buy a Previa 7 seater and the salesman would not talk with me (jeans, scruffy, drove to dealership in a 7 year old Clio). So funny. Hong Kong is so brand conscious. Even to buy a fricking Toyota you need to be obviously well dressed. I guess my Y3 sweater, Yoji sneakers don't cut it against LV!!! HK economy is so hot. I had to wait 7 weeks for a Previa. Yesterday I bought a flatscreen and I have to wait 2 months for it.

 

Carmack + Quake I dial-up death matches got me through my mid 20s. Miss those days!

Arshad, i had no idea this guy is in Toronto.

Ahh....it was Q2 for me. Warehouse+Railgun=3am Caffeine Induced Happiness

 

I have a fondness for Q1. I would even consider buying an old Windows 98 machine just to be able to play it again. I think it was - and still is - the best FPS ever. Q2 got kind of hard - it was tougher to rocket jump and harder to kill by blast radius with the rocket gun. I can still see every level clearly in my mind even after all this time! Isn't that weird?

I had a best friend named Corey who would play against me late into the night back then (1996 or so). He'd sometimes stay up all night playing - we'd be across town battling each other in DM. He passed away a few years ago, but this is something I will always fondly remember about our friendship. He was pretty damned good, too!

Also...I clearly remember 350ms ping times.

Cool stuff I agree about the F40 being better than the F50. When I got to drive a friends F50 I thought it was down on HP and not quite as fast as it should be. I thought it was just me that the F50's horses were a bit small but good to see someone agree.

 

Alot of that is most likely due to the power delivery, I for one prefer turbo car's over n/a car's .

Agree with every word. I wish somebody would redo the whole q1 in a newer game engine. OK! enough chit chat, back to squeezing my brains out on how to earn more money so i can buy myself a ferrari!

 

Here's some of my photos from Quakecon 2007, unfortunately the lander " Texel" was destroyed last year during testing. The other module pictured I believe runs on a peroxide motor.
