    Yes.

FCA, Porsche Club of America and SCCA

Only one requires ownership of a specific mark of car. PCA, the rest, in my opinion, are about the cars, not about ownership.

I just sold my Porsche, so there goes the PCA, but I can sell my Ferrari and remain a member of the FCA forever.

    I pay $135 a year, I think, and it's worth every penny.

So is the $50 a year here for Rossa Subscribed, even though I get a freebee now that I'm moderating.

PCA requires ownership? I guess I won't be renewing mine! Sold my Porsche.

    I'll double-check that, though.

Very reassuring to hear that FCA welcomes all. I think I'll cough up $135 and forgo getting my car detailed :p

I agree even though I have joined I probably wont renew as I am located in an area that most events are at least a 7 to 14hr drive and for a $100 membership they simply do not offer the benefits or information that are offered and always available on a site such as this, next year Rosso.

That doesn't make sense. By posting events, you encourage people to sign up and inform them that you have a good service going on.

By remaining anonymous, I don't imagine you're helping anyone's cause.

    Yes. I've been a member since 2006 and I don't own a Ferrari.

We have a pretty active chapter here in the Austin area and I also attend all of the Ferrari events in San Antonio.
The events in San Antonio were initially non-FCA events. A few people from FChat got together and just started meeting on a monthly basis and now so many people are attending, they gave San Antonio it's own FCA chapter. That may be bad or good... now we are supposed to sign waivers & exclude others on drives (I would assume).

FChat is valuable to FCA. Many people see my photos of events in Austin & San Antonio and they ask me what we were doing and how to join up. Many people wouldn't have a clue that we have any local events if I didn't post photos on FChat.
We don't post the details of the events online but I do post some photos afterwards.

I too am an FCA member: state president, and event coordinator for the FCA/NER...the whole ball of wax. The New England Region is VERY active, with something available almost every weekend from early March until December. We post events that are not only club sponsored, but also those that might be of interrest to all. We put out 2 publications, and we just had a great annual meeting which featured Steve Matchett, Sam Posey & David Hobbs. For those interested in the marque it doesn't get much better than that! It all boils down to enthusiasm and participation. We encourage our membership to come up with interesting and original ideas for events, and then work with them to put them on. Take a look at our calendar, which is still growing, for an idea of what we expect for our $135. www.fac-newengland.org.

yes, fca-mo. not an owner (yet) but still have had a great time as a member. i haven't been to any of the national events, but one day i will, we've got a pretty good, active local chapter, with around 1 event per month. i've met a ton of great people, and have enjoyed every minute of it. , i'm rejoining within the next week or two, had too much fun last year!

Good to hear that so many Texans are having fun with Ferraris . . . used to be me and my Dino's stomping ground back in the early '80.

Just to clarify for all concerning missinformation about "sign waivers and exclude others on drives," the FCA carries it's insurance with K&K Insurance. The only time they require any FCA members and other guest participants to sign their waiver form for a "moving" event is if the event includes some form of competiton. For example, if you do a rally that has prizes that people are competing for (trophies, memorabilia, a free service at the sponsoring dealership, etc. no matter how trivial) every participant must sign a Wavier of Liability. If you do the same rally but there is absolutely no form of competition, no waiver is required. If you do a Sunday A.M. "Ride and Drive" to brunch (no competition), no waiver is required. Concerning excluding others on drives, if a non-FCA member shows up for an event and he/she is invited by the FCA event organizer or another FCA member to participate, he/she is allowed to participate and must sign the waiver if one is required. Think about it . . . most spouses are not members but participate in numerous events. They are essentially "invited Guests." Not a problem!

So, come to FCA events, bring someone to share the joy, do it often!

Thanks for the clarification. Most of our events in San Antonio do involve a drive but rarely for any prize or anything like that.

When I moved to Atlanta in 95, there was a vibrant core of folks who showed up, headed by Alan Wilson... but sadly they have all moved on, for what ever reason the SE chapter has splintered into individual states, and has been pretty inactive in GA... there is the annual savannah event which is great, and the guys in SC do a lot of stuff... but in the greater atlanta area its really f chat that does the stuff...

I've tried myself to gin up participation, but never the less I think the club is slowing running its course ... too bad! I think in Atlanta guys that have 430's dont want to hang out with guys in 308 - 355's anymore... too much of an economic difference... sad to say but I fear true. the real gear heads do want to hang out and they are on F-chat.

Things have changed. It just doesn't seem to be as interesting to people as it was up until about the mid 90's. I really can't put my finger on exactly why

Beats the hell out of me. I've never read an insurance policy I've understood. I've seen the FCA's policy but I don't have a copy. I do know it's a general liability policy designed the protect the FCA's organization and officers and I know when the waiver certificate is required. Beyond that the club's General Counsel is the man to go to. If you want more info start with http://www.kandkinsurance.com/
