One of my favorite threads is the "More Old Pictures." Sadly, I have nothing to contribute because I was 14 in 1964. Plus, there were not a lot of exotic cars in the Florida panhandle. (Even though I do remember one guy who used to park a 904 outside under a tree, but I digress.)

However, earlier this month, I was at a racing school at Bondurant when we got word that a Ford GT 40 was going to be unloaded. Well, the young punks at Bondurant got it wrong. It wasn't a GT 40. It was Bondurant's #5 Cobra Daytona. Talk about timing. You see, when I was a kid, I must have built this model more than just about anything else. Damn, I thought that the Cobra Daytona was the coolest car in the world. Yeah, the GT 40s were cool, but didn't come close to the Daytona. And, Ferraris? PFFFFT. Who cared? :)

The driver was sweating bullets and kept saying that it was an $18 million dollar car. I don't have a clue where it was coming from, but I assumed that it was going to stay at Bondurant. Sorry, I didn't take more picture. But the track opened back up and track time is track time.

If anybody wants higher resolution, just shoot me an email address. For now, enjoy.

Below is a photo of the Daytona Coupe that Bondurant won many of his races with. At the time it was owned by Peter Livanos and had just been acquired from Bob Rubin. It was a corner stone of one of the greatest Ford racing car collections I beleive ever assembled. I was fortunate enough to have ben the Curator of the collection and as much as I love Ferrari I could not help but admire this important car.
Could it be the same car?

The Gurney Coupe belongs to S. Robson Walton. It is not the ex-Livanos car.

    Dave,
Is this collection still intact? Any other photos of the Cobra Coupe you can add? Not to take away from your thread Dale, but figured the more pics the better!

This is CSX2601. Bondurant sold the car in 1969 to John Simonsen who was from Fargo, North Dakota for about $10.000. Simonsen owned 6 gas stations, one 340 miles from his home, and he used the coupe from station to the other.
In 1973 the car was sold to Rob Dyson of Milbrook, New York and placed into storage.
Many years later the car was sold to Texas car dealer Steve Forristall, who bought the car for his client Bob Rubin, owner of the Bridgehampton race track. In 1991 Peter Livanos purchased the car and had it restored. After that it was sold in 1993 to Gary Schaevitz of White Plains, New York. In 1995 the car was again restored.

    Why was this thread moved!

Why should I take the time to resize and post pictures when someone apparently randomly decided to move them willy nilly?

Just an update on this Daytona Coupe... The Car now runs, and is drivable!! The body is going to remain unrestored. The car sounds good I got to hear it first-hand :)

    Dale,

It got moved becuase it didn't have any Ferrari content.

    I didn't move it, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't have.

Maybe a title change would help draw some attention to it?

But without Ferrari content it didn't really belong in the Vintage Ferrari section.

I did send you an email on it.

So one of the most significant race cars of the 60s is not relevant, huh?

I guess this means that if anyone posts ANYTHING other than a Ferrari in vintage it will get moved?

    I suspect not.

You guys really need to get a life.

WOW! Really??? This is crazy! Who cares where a thread is listed at all...just give it a bump when it moves and it will pop up at the top... It is a GREAT thread, I love it! Those cars are just nearly priceless! AMAZING! Maybe you missed the title of this forum... FerrariChat... I would certainly expect anything non-Ferrari would be on page 2 if you will, it makes total sense to do that.
