Personalized on a Crappy Plate...

  1. Keep the "NEW" style...Having DINOGT4 is cooler than the ugly plate

  2. 1974 Plate is the way to go.

  3. Choose something else, these options suck.

  4. Why in the h*ll are you asking us? :)

Ok, Indiana has some pretty screwey rules in obtaining a personalized plate. You have to 'request' the lettering you want before April 1. IF you are approved, (you get 3 choices) then your plate will arrive sometime AFTER December 1. (Can't make the Inmates work too hard you know. :)) Well, when I ordered mine they told me that it would be on the new style plate, but they did not have a sample for me to see. I had a couple choices at this point. I could pony up extra $$ for one of the custom plates (university, environmental, St. Judes research plate, etc...), Or I could lose my fees and purchase a Historic Plate which would allow me to register/use a 1974 plate, Or I could risk it and see how good the new plate looks. Well, unfortunately it SUCKS! I really don't like the look of it, but I have DINOGT4 reserved on it.

The question is: Should I go with the new plate (Pic1) which would read DINOGT4, or I could register the 1974 plate (Pic2) or should I forget them both and go with something different? (Pic 3 is what I currently have and cannot re-register it.)

I'd personally spend the extra bucks and go with a custom plate. Your state's plate (blue background) will clash badly with your GT4's Rossa Corsa paint. What are some of the custom plate styles and/or colors?

    Here are the custom plates...

I like the "Kids First & Riley Hospital plates...thats about it although I am a Registered Nurse, so I could go with that one.....

The other thing that I could do is to reserve the DINOGT4 on a custom plate for next year.....

Do you have collector/classic car plates there? Here in WA. if your car is over 25yrs old you can get the collector/classic car plates, you only pay once to regester your car as long as you own it, and you also only have to have the rear plate too! I'm going with this option when I get around to it!

    Cheers!

Actually, to register the 1974 plate, you purchase a "Historic Plate" then you can register a "Year of production" plate. I'll have to keep the Historic Plate in the trunk if I go that route.... I can keep the Historic/1974 plate as long as I own the car, unlike current plates which expire every couple years when you have to buy the new style...

    Jim,

Both plates are cute. I also like the third to last plate on the list (Secure Indiana plate). Maybe it worthwhile to, as you mentioned, secure DinoGT4 for the custom plate next year. But what would you use as an interim plate?

I vote 1974, I dont think we have this option in Colorado, but if we did, I'd get a 1984 plate and do it for my QV. Makes it more "classy" in my opinion.

I'd go with the 74 plate.

Let me get this straight. There is something you can buy so that you can legally put an actual 1974 plate on the car? And you're asking us??? Why? Do it!!!
