[DFW] Australian Watching party

Ladies, Gentlemen and all F1 affectionados; that noise in your head is NOT the fading din of the Nascar V8 but the approaching wail of those fabulous F1 engines! To get the F1 season off Carolyn and I are hosting our annual Australian F1 watching party on the 15th of March. Libation consumption will commence at 7, we will be serving dinner about 8 and the race begins at 9:30. We will have various items to drink if you have a specialty then you will need to bring it.

It should be an exciting season! We will see if Mr. Hamilton is the real deal and can Kimi defend his hard fought title. Will BMW pick up the pace a bit and become a regular podium attendee. How will Team Willy perform and will Honda show any improvement what with its new Brawn. Hopefully the politics will take a back seat and we will be able to see some incredible racing.

We are looking forward to this and hope to see many of you there. As usual we need a head count so that we can have an ample supply of food. If you need directions PM me and I will give them to you.

 

I don't mean to hi-jack this thread, but doesn't the race begin at 11:30p CST?

Berni switched the time so that the race starts at ~6GMT instead of the usual ~3GMT.

 

Yes, I contacted the People at the Aussie GP and the start time this year is 2 hours later. Although they did not say so I suspect it is for the world wide TV coverage. If you guys are interested in a late night we are agreeable. If this is the case then everyone start arriving about 8 we will serve dinner about 9 or 9:30 and then hope everyone stays awake for the race.

Unfortunately I will be in Nashville on business through Sunday. Nancy has expressed interest in attending, but she may fly to Virginia while I am out of town. I will let you know, and appreciate you hosting once again. Hate to miss it.

Remember this si the race that starts at 11:30 Pm on the 15th of March. We will probably start offering coffee at 10:30 or so

 

You might want to record it and then have the party on Sunday afternoon.

 

We might make it a family thing. I know my mother likes to watch(we're from Spain so yes we go for Alonso) and my girlfriend is getting more and more into it.(I'm trying to convert from NASCAR) If that falls through I would like to be around other F1 fans.

 

FYI, this is in Dallas, not Houston.

 

Yup just noticed. I saw dfw watching party and I was lookin for the houston one I thought I posted in.....Oops! Well nothing more hardcore than driving 4 hours to watch a race and driving 4 hours back in the middle of the night. LOL, you guys have fun.

 

I didn't see the race on the program schedule on Speed, except for on Sunday at 12.30pm?

 

Can someone also please confirm this?

 

The speed schedule is messed up on their site, the forums over there have been *****ing at the webmasters for a while now

 

There was an advertisement on speed this weekend about F1 and they showed the schedule including live broadcast starting at 11PM on Sat Night.
Do we have any other people that are interested in attending? If you are concernied about the late hour and wish to "crash" over here after the race rather than chance the trip back home you are welcome to do so, we have plenty of room.
