Hi All, Does anybody know who is doing the current restoration work on the Breadvan? I think that the restorer is in the US. Any contact information would be appreciated. Many thanks, Steve
I heard in about November or December 2007 it was in the US getting freshened up. New Scuderia SSS stickers, and perhaps other work. Thanks, Steve
Nice photos from the link. Its funny but after all that work the car is still wrong for as raced at Lemans in 1962.Amazing. We really need a 1/24 model of this car.The MG model is trash. Tom Tanner/SD
What's still wrong with it? I've compared the pics but I don't see it. ooh, and I don't think the car is with Werner anymore. Anyone?
The plexiglass weber cover is wrong and the screw holder for the front grill (no grill for Lemans) plus 1 sticker on the front. The metalwork looks like it is correct now.I saw this car for the first time at Road America in 1988. I think I have seen around 5 times at several events. The nose looks much better now. Tom Tanner/SD
The previous restoration was done in Italy by Sport Auto in Modena, around 1985. It was my impression that many of the original craftsmen participated so I was surprised to receive photos of the nose being redone. Here are 3 photos; #1 LeMans 1962 #2 Road Atlanta 1984 Ron Finger #3 Cavallino Classic 2003 Monte Shallette I pray these pictures don't end up in someone's new book. It was Bizzarrini's project and his idea for the breadvan body. Drogo was contracted to build the body, so to say they both did it really doesn't give Bizzarrini the acculades he deserves.
its a shame that its still not as it was back in the days, the second picture is just rediculous, what a major differences.
The Breadvan was a regular UK racer in the seventies, when it was just a 13 yr old ex race GT Ferrari..... owned by Martin Johnson and driven very quickly by the vastly experienced historic racer John Harper. Alwin Hietbrink has made an excellent job of the front end and if it has gone to a new custodian, hopefully it will get used on both road and track. E
here is a photo of the car last year during modifications to the nose. Beautiful workmanship. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I got the job to do the nose of the breadvan. it was too long, too blunt and too flat. with help of david's photos, mr. Werners photos and many many more people from ferrarichat and modern techniques to recreate from photos. Shape is as le mans 1962 incl all correct marchal lights and dry sump cap on fender. Alwin
