Has anyone had any experience with either one of these GPS systems?

I've got the first gen Nuvi - I'd buy it again in a heartbeat.

Not sure you could go wrong with any of 'em. Some cell phones have GPS built-in, which may be enough for occasional use.

I have the tomtom720, which is pretty close to the 920 from what i had read.
I am very happy with it so far, and I am new to navigation systems.
Since Xmas, I have entered 4 destinations that i would typically print google maps out of.
I followed the directions (text to speech on the 720/920) and the were perfect.
I love the 4.3 in screen too, my Dad has the tomtom One and the 3.4 inch is so much smaller.

    best of luck

Tom Tom 920 for sure. The Tom Tom comes with Tom Tom Home and that sw utility on your PC will do all of the sw and map data diagnostics for you. All you have to do is plug in your Tom Tom via USB cable to your PC and it does everything... check to see if you have the latest sw, the latest map data, etc...
