Joe, that 2nd-last post just made me realize that we rarely see GTO's with the lights popped. Funny. :)

Yes, from Jacques Swaters of Garage Francorchamps in Brussels after about 75 BB's, a few 308s and a half dozen 400i's--never like them so much.

NO, French cars only, Belgian cars had white lights--I know I got cars from both Ch. Pozzi in Paris (yellow lights for which I was pulled over by Alabama's finest) and from Garage Francorchamps in Brussells (white).

Yeah, but I never noticed until my painters pointed it out. They already knew from dealing with Ferrari how the GTOs ended up that way and what tints were being used. Of course, once they pointed out, I couldn't miss it. It should looked like Red to me. Besides, from behind the wheel, it all looked good.

Perhaps its because the panels are different composite materials? I have seen one Asian 288 GTO (one of the 2 cars owned by Matsuda that I have posted here) that is disctinctly orange-red in most of the bodywork...

Anyone know the situation with the sports exhaust system that adorns a fair few 288 GTOs?

I understand that they were offered as a sports option and that the original systems were made in mild-steel and finished jet black. Now Im seeing units finished with what appears to be stainless steel tips. Any idea who makes these?

    Joe,

I don't believe so. The fenders, for example, are fiberglass all the way around, but the rears tend to be a different tint of red than the fronts. I think Ferrari just did them in batches because it was easier/quicker for them. I don't think it has to do with the fiberglass vs. kevlar vs. aluminum. Heck, Ferrari doesn't probably even no why.....

Well, it's time to knock off the dust, the GTO is going to the FCA track event at Thunderhill in April.

I have always looked at this car as Ferrari's answer to "Shelby" and "Mopar" muscle. Not that Ferrari have ever needed to compete with that market, but it was the first real "BRAWN" (and not the one that quit to help Honda) Ferrari.

I have LOVED this car because it looks so f**king powerful. It puts fear into the onlooker as though the car will snap at you if your out of line. Its the R. Lee of pre F40 Ferraris and looks like a bouncer after a fight.

    Can anybody post performance stats?
