Radio Code??

The original selling dealer will (should) have the code on file, contact FNA or your nearest authorized dealer. In any case, be prepared to prove you are the owner.

 

I believe FNA charges a fee to restore a lost radio code.

Back in the day, this is what we used to do. Now I'm not advising this or sanctioning it but I'm just telling a story of what we used to do at a car dealership I owned in Europe.

Take the head unit out (The thing in the dashboard) and put in a ziplock bag. Place ziplock bag in the freezer overnight. This sounds strange but apparently it zeroe's out the code setting. Let the radio come to room temp and reinstall. the radio will then let you enter a fresh code. Store the code so you don't forget.

Like I said this is what we used to do. I have no idea if it still works but it never damaged anything, so when we got cars from auctions etc it was either do this or get a new unit.

Wow, never hear of this before but wish I could have try it with my previous PCM wich I sold it since it did not have the code. What happens when you park the car in the below freezing temperature over night? does that mean the code may reset?

My 360 also came without the radio code but my tech guy called the origional dealer and got me both the radio code and the alarm code. If you go to the dealer to do this, they will charge you a fee and the code will print on a sealed envelope. Make sure you get the alarm code at the same time, I was told that if you don't have the alarm code you would have to buy a whole new alarm system and not just the remotes.

Ok here whats to do if IIRC...you must start the car and let it run for 20 mins (no kidding!! it may even be 45 mins, I will check with Brett in the moring) with the radio on saying "wait" after that, the radio will resit itself...then turn your car off and call the dealer that sold the car org. they should have the code...They may require you fax proof of ownership...Also have them give you the alram code at the same time...Print this code out and tape it along with alarm code to the inside of your glove box...that way you always have it, and the next owner will be thankful as well...

Not necessary to let the car run. Once you obtain the code and input it into the unit you should be good to go.

 

yes it is..well I guess you could just turn the key over to acc. and let it sit there not 20 mins, not for 45 mins...but for ONE HOUR!!!! that will clear code! I checked with Brett my right man, and we had a car once that the radio was in "wait" mode, and we put the key in acc for one hour and that cleared the "wait" code, then we could enter the radio code, which we printed out and taped to the inside of the glove box, and to inside of the battery cover on the passenger floor!

Isn't the idea of radio codes a joke.. who the hell would steal the radio?? Why they keep doing this to new cars just amazes me...

You can call the selling dealer and get it from them, if they feel nice that day. Or you can call becker with the code, a friend got one for me through them, they use the serial number on the radio.

 

Oh yeah in your case I don't blame you for using your friends unit.. If you have the little tools its no problem to slide the radio out. Glad you got it going!
