I was highly amused yesterday when shopping with my girlfriend. We had split up in the store and at one point i saw her coming round the corner approaching this rather large lady who's trolley was stopping my lovely lady getting by with hers. She didnt see me and what did she do, just bashed her trolley off the other and said sorry, the pair of us burst out laughing, what a lunatic!

Anyway, i dont stick to any side

For the most part, in the U.S., we stay to the right in grocery stores and hallways. I guess we are nicer. :)

We stay to the right on escalators in tube stations in London, so those wanting to go quicker can walk down or up on the left hand side

About six years ago I went to live in Barcelona, and it was one of the first things I noticed, when approaching somebody head on, I subcontiously swerved to the left and ended up walking into a lot of people as their natural reaction was to swerve right.

I had never give this a thought until I was living there. Now back in the UK, I sometimes end up dancing in front of people as i jump from one foot to the other, and still often go to the wrong door of the car to drive.

Here in the US, we tend to walk on the right- just like how we drive.

Rules of the Sidewalk are the same as the rules of the road.
Walk on the right, don't tailgate, no abrupt turns, no speeding, etc
