700445 is the correct part#. but remember, "L" wheels say "F_at" on them as against the later wheels that say DINO.

You're an experienced FCA judge. Have you ever known any Dino to be docked points for having a tire that was a 205/70? I judge that class and have always accepted that size as correct no matter what the Dino series. In fact, the rules do not require the original speed rating, so if it's a 205/70HR vs a 205/70VR, it's still okay. I don't agree with that, but those are the rules.

Thank you, ferrari Dino, Big Tex. I had wanted to replace my tire valves with that type. Will do so now.

While both the "L" series owner's manuals and spare parts books list the tire size for the car as 185 VR 14, the following excerpt from page 266 of Jean-Pierre Gabriel's on the Dino suggests that the change in tires takes place at chassis #00530.

"A partir du chassis 00530 GT, les jantes de 14 x 6.5 prévue pour recevoir des pneus 185 x 14 durent généralement équipées d'enveloppes Michelin 205 x 14. La hauteur hors tout d'un vehicule ainsi gréé passait a 1135mm."

Furthermore, the Anthony Curtis, Alan Henry and Piero Cassuci books all associate the 205 VR 14 with the 246GT.

Given that the rim sizes were the same for both 206GT and 246GT "L" series cars and knowing how printing deadlines work, I think going with Jean-Pierre Gabriel's insight into which tires are right for an "L" series car is logical.

Lastly, my car is 00542 and it has Michelin XWX 205/70 VR14 tires all around. I have never lost points for tires when the car was judged and feel I could defend my use of them based on these findings.

I also read this 205 x 14 stated for cars from 00530 on but I think this is a mistake and they all mean 205/70 x 14. Gabriel talks about 2 cm more diameter in comparison to 185 x 14, but difference between 185 x 14 and 205 x 14 is about 5 cm.

205 x 14 is the correct size for 275 GTB/GTS and 330 GTC/GTS.

Ferrari Classiche states 205/70 VR 14 as correct for Dino 246 E-Series and 185 VR 14 as correct for 206 (I have copys of certificates for both cars). I'm not sure if the guys in Maranello know the change form car 00528 to car 00530 but I believe not because they only work with the old data and that might be wrong, not only in that case.

Gabriel is a good source, I believe he's right.

Just put on curb feelers and they wont bother with your valve stems!

 

I believe the valve stems are made by Bridgeport. Dennis McCann still lists them for sale.

Those look like aluminum, not chromed, stems to me. My Stratos came with the aluminum valve stems (on Campagnolos), and I used to buy them at Ferrari dealera.
