Looks like it is going to be an exciting race. Can't wait to see the Kimster cut through the field like a knife through butter. Would be neat to see Kubica bag his first victory, but a Hami victory would also be interesting for the championship battle. LOL! As you rightfully predicted. I hope this is his last season in a Ferrari. Go Kimi, go!
WTF, I wake up this morning and log in to fchat to read some lively discussion of qualifying events- and instead I have to put up with this Hamilton-bashing cr@p? Incredible. Because the man has a confident smile in the press interviews (keeping in mind how the British press TORE HIM DOWN when he failed to win the championship last year) you call him smug? Arrogant? Please. The man reminds me, in many ways, of when Tiger Woods came on the PGA scene. Same determination, exceptional talent and belief in his own abilities to achieve what NO OTHER had ever achieved at his age. Next, you're going to tell me you think Tiger is an arrogant a**hole, too, right? Basically at this point you owe other fchatters an apology. It's in the best interest of this community and its reputation NOT to tolerate undeserved criticism of any person, much less LH who seems to me to be a very fine young man, indeed. Massa will bounce back tonight, I think. Apparently he didn't get his last qually lap in, due to traffic.
I was going to bring up tiger last night but didnt. When he came out with his fist pumps and loud yelling he was deemed a unfit golfer and would never match Jack. Im pretty sure hes established dominace... He has matured and clamed down a bit but there is nothing wrong with a little arrogance IMO. Hammy has felt defeat. He had the WDC it was his, all he needed to do was not be young and stupid... but he did. It seems people are just pissed because HE IS THAT GOOD. HE has proven him self and continues too. As with the massa gone next year I agree. Alonso supposedly has an out in his contract if the renaut performs poorly... so far it has, perhaps alonso in ferrari?
I think attrition (due to the lack of TC) is going to be key here. First time everyone is running together/in a competitive environment/on a track they never practice on.
Sucks that Kimi couldnt participate in the Q2 and Q3. Hopefully they have fixed what went wrong. I think Heidfeld had the same issue in practice - car ground to halt. I wonder if it is the crap Microsoft/McLaren ECU giving up the ghost in the midst of the run. On the positive side, it was fun to see the cars sliding around with lots of opposite lock action. Really cool! I am glad more of the driving has been put back into the driver's hands (or feet to be accurate). Kubica's car control was stunning. I remember Kimi also had a similar moment about 2 years back when he went wide onto the grass. Hopefully Massa has a lot more fuel onboard or else it will be tough to grab big points in the race. I predict Kimi will surge forward to about 4th in the race. I am sure this season will be interesting - all the signs point to it.
So much for the Renault and Alonso...and Piquet Jr outside the top 20. Hmmm... I guess their pre season testing were the fruits of low hangers. And I'll say it again, the only way Hami and Alonso will mix it up on the track is while Alonso is being lapped.
If car does not break Massa will win in Australia, 2 stop strategy, heavy on fuel to start. Fuel pressure questionable. Initially, Kimi was to run a lighter load to be up front on pole, problem changed strategy. Likely Kimi will be on a one stop, Ferrari seems to be easier on tires than even McLaren, so one stop is feasible. Without traction control, it will a bit scary for Kimi to try to pass 13 sliding cars, especially some of the backmarkers in front of him. He will pass most of them them when they pit. Alonso will let him through without a problem, with Kimi potentially finishing second to Massa. No worse than third. You read it hear first. Oh, by the way, Massa will be in a Ferrari in 2010 and 2011. As will Kimi. They have the most coherent team on the grid, they will not change something that isn't broken. And don't fool yoursef into believing that Kimi is OK with Alonso on the team. ;}
The truth of it is that LH is a really good drive and probably proved that quicker than any driver in history. I would bet he will win at least a handful of races this year if not more and will contend for the championship this year. That being said, I still don't like him... Maybe if he chills a bit, I will at a later date???? Part of the reason for not liking him is jealousy that he's beating the guys I have been watching for years, I can admit that, and part is the cockyness, the fact that he didn't do on the grid interviews last year and EVERY other driver did, even the world champ, that is the first thing that made me start disliking him. And why do they need to show his dad SO MANY TIMES every race. Michael Shumacher was on camera thousands of times and they spoke about him every five seconds, can anyone here identify one of his family members????? Probably not, becuase they didn't show them more than once or twice, why LH's dad????? BFD Now that my rant is done, let's see how the season plays out, I like the no TC, and I like it that some of the other teams are now contending for the podium, it makes it much more fun to watch and maybe the people in the US will catch on and they will bring back the USGP.
have u ever thought that Massa's on a heavier fuel strategy? he did a great job last season with a 1 stopper. and your looking at the 1st race to kiss the WCC goodbye?
+1, Agree with everything you say. Lewis is a great driver, but he is excessively arrogant. In the interview room you could see right through him, he gave the Ferraris little respect not even considering them a factor in the race. There is just something about him, probably believing all the hype that says he will the greatest driver ever. Kubica has a very good position to overtake on the first corner, lets all hope for the best.
on the whole, Hammi is a good driver. but as the season progressed, last season i meant, i think he got a little bit disrespectful. just my thought.
About as good as your start ... filled with negativity. I guess, it doesn't really matter what Massa does (by your predictions last season he would be off the road) you will always sing the same old + old + negative song. It must really suck to know the outcome of life, so maybe you join the mere mortals and enjoy the show.
Not a chance. He will finish lower than he qualified and it would not surprise me if he finished out of the points. However I see that the Schumassa crowd is already getting their excuses ready...would have been on th epole but for traffic?!? Please... Not a chance. He will lucky to still be in F1 by 2011. Look at Rubens and DC's career trajectories, that is Massa's fate. Kimi never had a problem with JPM as a teammate, he will have no problem partnering Alonso either. I think Kimi will make it to the podium tomorrow as well, however Massa will not be in sight.
Senna3WC sees into the future because of his extensive past (which he just cannot let go of) "Look at Rubens and DC's career trajectories, that is Massa's fate." Yeah. yeah. yeah. Tired + Boring.
Senna, I agree with what your saying but Massa does have some skill inside. He should be able to fight for the podium and get some points for the team. Kimi on the other hand better be at this best tomorrow because to get to the points he'll need to overtake some pretty good drivers.
WOOT! Hamilton on Pole!! I really hope Lewis Hamilton wins this year's WDC title and the WCC for McLaren as they deserved it last year!
Deserved??????? WHAT??? They cheated, they had information on Ferrari's car, used it, and lied about it. They could have been very easily kicked out of the sport last year. The only thing they deserve is to have 22 and 23 on their cars this year.
Wrong again on all counts, except Kimi on podium. That I think there is a chance, but he will be behind Massa. According to Machette, Massa coming in a lap early actually saved fuel for race. But then you probably do not understand the concept of fuel load at the start and how the weight affects the cars's speed. Recent article in F1 discussed the Kimi/JPM period and the relationship was anything but comfortable. Both complained vehemently that the other was receiving favortism. And then there was the time JPM ran into the rear of Kimi at Indy, interviews in Finnish press told of a very angry Kimi. Kimi/Alonso, very unlikely, more likely is Alonso/Massa, and even that is a stretch. For sure Massa will have the one seat until 2011. You see, Massa helps with car development, neither Kimi or Fred do this to any extent.
They deserved nothing last year. It was a gift to them to allow the driver's to keep their points when Alonso admitted that he a Pedro actually tried to use the Ferrari dossier. Fortunetely they lost even the WDC the last race. Are you on the right forum?
I guess Flavio lied about this and you know better than him? That's why Giancarlo was kept around at Renault. Quote from Flavio Briatore. And Massa has been part of the Ferrari development group for the last 18 months. That's why it took Kimi so long to mesh with the car and the team. He did no development work, his input was difficult to understand. Its much better now. Nope Andreas, neither of these two have the development input of drivers like Fischy and Massa. That is a fact that somehow escapes you.
Alonso was Renault's development and test driver before he was put in a racing seat. He developed the car that took him to his two consecutive titles. Flavio has said many things. Fact is that Fisichella is no longer driving for Renault and instead they put the useless Piquet into that seat. Tells you something about how valuable Fisico really was. Kimi did a lot of development and testing over this past winter. You seem to ignore that.
Is it coincidence that Renault went to $h** after Alonso left? I think Kimi and Massa do about the same amount of testing/improving the car.
