I actually just received notice from the court today in the mail - I've been scheduled to appear on Feb 5th. Funny: When I called the court to notify them that I was going to appear and read the clerk my case number, she immediately erupted "Oh, so you’re the guy with the filming summons!" Apparently my name and case stuck out over there as she explained that she has been at the court for 7 years and never heard of that violation before and thought it was odd..

I'll definitely Keep everyone in the loop with the outcome.

    VA Viper,

Sorry for what you had to go through. Look, it's OBVIOUS he was giving you a ticket like that for being from out of state. He figured, "Hey, this guy isn't gonna come back and contest it."

And the filming thing is ridiculous. He didn't catch your friend snapping photos, but he caught YOU somehow? How exactly did he do that?

I'm just surprised because the cops usually choose to pull over the Lamborghinis and Ferraris over the Vipers. Not that the Vipers aren't exotic and awesome, but they don't stand out as much over those cars.

Very sorry your experience here turned out like that. :(

    VA Viper -
I am sorry to hear about your ticket. You seem to be a down to earth guy, owning up any speeding or other violations you may get. Regarding this filming ticket, I can only add a few things to the table....

I worked for the NJ Turnpike Authority a few years ago, and heard of many stories of out of state tourists stopping on the Turnpike along the I-78 Extension in order to take photos of the skyline. The State makes a lot of money off of giving out these tickets and claiming it was for security purposes. Though, I find it more of a traffic hazard having a motorist on the side of the road taking photos than a security problem.

I think having the mount on an exotic car is going to be a hard thing to explain. Having that camera fly off at high speeds could do serious damage or hurt someone. I doubt you will be about to get out of the ticket.

    Hey Yourk,
I totally get what you are saying and have decided earlier on to abandon the mounts as an external video solution for all the obvious reasons (safety being paramount) and stick with interior mounts.

With that said, I do feel that the cross braced 7 cup configuration that I used at the time, which I tied down with 2 - 100lb safety tethers at multiple points in the vehicle was more than adequate to prevent any undesirable incidents from occurring during the run. These sticky pod - while not the perfect solution by far - have been proven by many including several people that I know who have run them on drag and road courses with great success. A quick look at the videos on their site, or search on Youtube or Google will reveal tons of videos made with these mounts.

I simply would not have went on with the drive had I not had complete confidence that the equipment was tied down securely - and certainly don't expect the judge to have any sympathy when he gets wind of this explanation =)

No worse than the idiots in SUVs who don't get the snow off their cars and then a 5 foot wide slab of ice is flying freely.

Hey guys - just wanted to give you guys the scoop,

Just got the word in from the law office this morning. After being dragged out to no end it boiled down to - 0 Points and a $94 Fine. Filming charges were thrown out. Needless to say I am happy beyond belief. Anybody in need of a great traffic attorney reference, just PM me.
