Apparently I "don't have it in my area" -- Center City Philly. Should be 71 on Comcast but that's ESPNC...
    Poker all night.

UPDATE: Just got off the phone with Comcast. They dropped the channel. Not popular enough. But they were kind enough to keep something called "Pinks" and some drag racing crap on ON DEMAND. Maybe this is only new to me, but WTF?!?! How can I watch the F1 season now!?

wasn't this talked about before with you or was it someone else? and how you really should get FIOS but comcast has the city on lockdown which is not cool. but I am sorry to hear that, comcast really needs to get there crap together, it is why I dropped them bad service all around.

Might have been talked about, but it wasn't me. I didn't do a search but I'm not surprised. Comcast SUCKS. I have had nothing but trouble from them. Would love to drop them for Verizon or anyone else, but as you point out I can't...

If anyone around here knows a way to see the races if not live than maybe rebroadcast during the day Sunday or something (e.g. maybe a sports bar near me someplace...?) I'd appreciate the tip.

If you're in an apartment building or condo, talk to the management about putting up a community dish. If you have a WSW view from your apartment, you might put up your own, and one of the few ways (unless the feds rewrote the regs again) the complex could disallow that would be if there was a communal dish you could use.

A common dish run to a multiswitch where the cable is split to each unit, and each unit would be able to choose cable or dish patched to their unit. Each unit would have to get their own satellite box with their own contract.

The cable company will tell you that you can't share a dish between units, but that's not so: you can share the undecoded signal, as long as each unit decodes it individually. You can't share the decoded signal *after* the satellite receiver.

With a community dish, you might not get a choice between DirecTV or Dish, and you might not get HD, but you'd at least get the satellite channels.

This was talked about recently. I threw this out to the group a few months ago. It seems that Comcast does not offer Speed in Philly. It drives me nuts, my friends a few miles away in the suburbs get it.

jhsalah Comcast sucks. I see you had to sell your car when you moved into town. I didn't find it was feasible to keep my car in Philly either.

That WILL be the last straw! We still have it in south Jersey, but if comcast drops it I'm going back to direct TV till Verizon comes.

Yep, Comcast SUCKS big time. SO sick of them. (And yes, living in Center City is not Ferrari-friendly AT ALL.)

I wish I could, but here's the worst part of this whole thing: I happen to live in a protected historical building (seriously). The building is over 200 years old. Satellite dishes are not allowed. And here's the kicker, for some reason, Comcast has this place on lock-down! No Verizon in the building!!

WTF? Seriously? I don't know what to do to watch the races! I can't watch them on my computer, that would suck, especially when the big flat-screen plasma is sitting there like nothing more than a pretty (flat) box on race-day :(

My girlfriend who lives in Philly gets speed it is channel 271 or 272 IIRC, but you need an HD Box with comcast to get it. I live in Bala Cynwyd just outside the city and get it no problem.

Don't know... Have to look into that, although unfortunately for me, my building only has Comcast.

It's weird, but apparently it's a neighborhood thing. Not available in mine, though Comcast carries it in other neighborhoods.
