What's the most you've ever spent on a pair of jeans?

i dont have to spend 200+ on a pair of jeans when I can get them for well under...

I reccommend the Barneys New York outlet if you can find one...+1 for The Rack and Off 5th too!

i have all the expensive jean brands and have _never_ paid more than about $100 for a pair for $200-300 jeans. Sure, i might have to wait a season before they actually make it to the discount outlets, but jeans are timeless anyway; and they wont go out of style, no matter how behind the curve I am.

 

Expensive jeans tend to suck after a few washes. I have a pair of Louis Vuitton's and a pair of Gucci's, each over $500. I had them dry cleaned initially, but after a few washes, both are too short. They might have told me I needed to wash them PRIOR to having them hemmed. My current favorite brand is Rock & Republic, which were something like $250. I also have a pair of American Eagle jeans that I bought for less than $20. I'm not sure I see the added value, especially not $200-500 added value.

 

The most I spent was $175. It was a social experiment - a girlfriend told me I'll feel uplifted. Yeah... my balls felt a little too up lifted...

In the end, I like Banana Republic & Ruehl the best.

Good thing you didn't buy them, because I almost bought the same pair. From Buckle stores.

Nothing like spending $200 on jeans & seeing everyone else has them... might as well be Target jeans.

 

Agave Jeans

These are made from the best Georgia cotton, which is actually the best in the world. The cotton is processed in Sweden then hand sewn in their own Agave plant in California.

There is a considerable difference in the fit, feel, comfort, and texture. I wear them pretty much every day.

You will find most of the high end Jeans are machine made and you end up paying for the name, you are better off buying a pair of Levis or Lees.

All of the styles are on the Agave web site, but not neccessarily the latest styles, (prevents people from, copying the styles)

+1 for the feel/texture of Agave... unmatched by any of the Diesel/Seven/Paper/RR etc... some TRs I have are similarily soft, but much thinner.

lesterm - DON'T WASH YOUR JEANS! (at least, no more than absolutely necessary) Sounds gross, but denim is designed to be worn and gets better for it. When you do wash, use cold water, light soap and hang them... can help if you stretch out the inseam. Some of my "jean-ophile" friends wash their denim maybe a couple times a year... one even wears them into the bathtub, rinses and lets them dry as she wears them (fits her ass perfectly that way)... mind you some of them actually have collector Levis worth $1000s.

 

Ouch, dude. Every (seriously, every) pair of jeans (3) I own are from Target.

P.S. I'm actually not offended at all. I could care less about what brands I wear.

 

Have no fear! Wingfeather wears everything from $400 D&G button down shirts... to WalMart $7.99 tops. No ego here. Eggos would be nice, though. *stomach grumble*

By the way, cheap jeans come from the same laborers that produce the expensive stuff. Heard it straight from a designer at a... lucky company

 

Never heard of the freezer method. My jean-nut friends seem to use Bounce (dryer sheets) in the pockets while the jeans aren't being worn.

 

Speaking of Lucky, I love that brand, but I like the "BKE" Buckle brand jeans better. Lucky shirt and boxers are great though Most comfortable jeans I ever wore were Todd Oldham denim. 2nd most were a pair of Lee Dungarees I bought from JC Pennys. They have a hole in the ass that needs sewn

 

I have a pair of nice pair of jeans from Armani Exchange for $145.

Other than that, my everyday jeans are from Banana Republic and Express ranging from $50-$80.

 

There are around $300.

Diesel are a little cheaper. About $200 ...........

 

I never mind paying for clothes. Half my stuff is Prada. As odd as it sounds, I am tall and skinny so it fits me well. Clothes sized in the US are baggy on me.

As for jeans, I have spent over 380 for a pair. Its a good investment (kinda). Last me about 5 years or so.

I'm sorry, but those jeans are hideous. They're like the Strosek of denim or something.

As for the most I've ever spent on a pair, my limit is probably $400. If you want quality denim you should avoid companies like Diesel (and I should know, I used to work for them back when I was an undergrad) - they used to have really good quality fabrics but now it's just garbage.

Brands to look out for:

Sugarcane
45RPM
Samurai
Studio D'Artisan
Iron Heart.

My current favorites are a pair of Samurai 526VX - made as a very small run for a shop in Osaka (2nd), they're a 17oz denim cinchback, followed by a pair of Iron Heart 643S, which are a massive 21oz.

The two best denim shops in the country are Blue In Greene (on Greene St in NYC) and Self Edge (Valencia St, SF).

 

Boy...I am a cheap SOB when it come to clothes. I can spends thousands on watches, jewelry, whatever...but my pants usually cost about 15-30$. Wife just bought 5 pairs at Sams Club...

I just can't see spending much on clothes...its out of fashion 6 months later...or dirty... I don't dryclean either. At 15$ a pop, I can replace the pants every 2 months or so....

 

That's because we're a bunch of fat asses here in the US

 

Clothes are a waste of money. All I wear these day are jeans and t-shirts, and get Maker's Mark, blue and black, at Sam's. Get my socks and undies there too. They also have some good solid color button sport shirts for little $$.

My wife buys me nicer t-shirts on sale from J. Peterman, a high-end online retailer.

For shoes and dressier stuff, I go to Stein Mart (a discount outlet retailer). I buy a few new brand-name pairs of shoes every three years or so. They also sell a full line of men's Ralph Lauren at like 50% below retail...probably inspection rejects, but no way I can tell.

Older generation here, apologies in advance for offending anyone, but IMO spending more than $40 for a pair of jeans isn't sane.

I hate that statement, "out of fashion". Unless your in the industry or a fashion bluff, does any one really give a **** about if clothes are in-fashion according to designers or magazines? To me, that just seems like it a marketing ploy to sell. If it looks good on someone or myself, and it's two years later, does it really matter? You do have those big shifts (what, every decade or so) from the 70's style to 80's, ect.; but that's a different topic.

 

I wear a lot of citizens and seven jeans they are about 100-175 each when I am out...my real favorite jeans are Marc Ecko Cut and Sew they are under 100 and have all kinds of bad ass detailing on them my Jcrew Selvege Classics are pretty damn comfey but I dont have them broke in yet...and Bullheads from Pac sun for working on the cars and riding bikes...they are indestructable and like $25 each (two for one sales are also common)

Crazy? Yes, probably! but I'm a female with very expensive taste in cars & fashion so gimme a break haha.

 

$400 dollars for Pradas.... I was foolish. But since then, I have a family hook up so I get most designer stuff cheap/ cheaper.
