I'll get there.....it's just going to take about a year longer than the 6 months I planned :(

There's a lot of “while I'm at it" it is going on here too which doesn’t help matters any.

The latest is the Titanium connecting rods. I need the rods because I’m buying cams due to the firing order issue, and as long as I’m getting cams I might as well get good ones. The good cams will require some head work to install them. And as long as I’m doing head work I might as well correct the flow too. And once I correct the flow there will be enough air to make power to around 9000 rpm. And reving to 9000 rpm (or maybe a little more) requires better rods and as long as I’m getting better rods I might as well have titanium to keep the weight and therefore block and crank loads down. It’s a viscous cycle….but this car is going to sound SOOOO good.

A fellow f-chatter was kind enough to donate 6 355 rods he had lying around to the cause, now I just need to find 6 more to match. They are weight code "G" if anybody knows of any.

I don't know -- I think a bundle of snakes exiting the passenger side quarter panel would be really cool.

What you really need is Paul Sloan's plexi engine cover :)

I have heard of many blown 355 engines, so those rods are out there somewhere in unmatched sets...

I could just dump 6 out each side in front of each rear wheel.....or 12 supertraps out the back maybe

Now THAT would look cool (the 12 supertrapps)

As for the "while I am at it", I know exactly what you mean. I've got a seriously hotrodded aircraft, built myself. The one-year project ended up taking 7 years to first flight. I am now 11 years in the project, and still things are not done. Changing to gearbox and propeller number four this summer, along with stainless steel exhaust system number 5 and composite engine cowling number three.

    Sigh...

Like I said: hang in there. Victoty will be soooooooo SWEET

Kind of a boring night. I decided to take the die grinder and clean up the water and oil return passages where I coldn't get with the milling cutter. Then nap time only lasted an hour so I was about 1 hour short of finishing up. Tomorrow.

I spent the day calling around to see who has what for weight code rods trying to figureout how to end up with 12 all the same.....still working on that one.

I think tyomorrow I'll order the material for the cams so I have it to work on after I get the block shipped. Busy Busy.

I finished up mygrinding today....I hate grinding, the little shards of metal always end up stuck all in my skin. But it's done now so I'm ready to make the create the and ship it out. I'm going to try and get started tonight after the little one goes to bed so I can be sue I get it done and the engine shipped this week. I'm really really ready to move on to something else.

I personally would aim for 100% stock look ... if required have additional 'invisible' outlets under the car.

Nothing would upset a new Porsche GT3 owner than being smoked by an apparently stock 70's 308 Ferrari :D :D

I ordered the steel for the cams this morning ( I got busy and forgot to do it yesterday)- $400 plus shipping. crazy....I best not make any mistakes cutting them.

This is the part Paul's been waiting for, but it's still going to take a wait. There is a lot of steel to cut to make the blanks then they have to be ground before they can be installed in the heads so I can check the timing chain fit-up. I'll probably make the blanks and get them out tro the grinder then move on to the bellhousing and drop gears since the block should be back by then, which will interupt the timing chain.

hmmm... I wonder if the intake cams will even install before I fit the new larger buckets in their new re-spaced positions or if the planned monster cam lobes will hit something??? If I have to fix the heads first that will further delay the timing chain by a couple months at least. Sorry Paul but it might still be several months before I'm ready to do the chain.
