Guys I managed to pick up a spare set of early TR knock-off alloy wheels cheap. They need a light refub but are pretty good. Best to have a spare set I think. Question is - I'm having them refurbished and am tempted to have them resprayed either black or a dark graphite. There's limited scope to 'fiddle' with the TR unlike my E30 racecar or my 968 Club Sport, and I thought maybe this might look ok for the annual run to Le Mans and for general hooning about. I've scoured the net but can't find any pics of the early style wheels in dark colours, only later 512TR's or 512M's. Any thoughts / comments? Remember this is a apare set and not my 'originals' so go easy on the flaming.....
With the chrome center, I don't think it would look all that good unless you polished the rim to a chrome-like finish as well. It might ruin the look of the car - try to photoshop it and see what it looks like. I'm not a big fan of blacked out wheels on most cars, but thats only my opinion.
what color is your testarossa? i like the dark graphite look. black is a little too dark, except maybe for a white car.
Its Red. Always liked the F40 look with the black wheels. Agree on the chrome centre lug so will go for a polished outer lip. Sod it I'll give it a go and post up the pictures when they're done.... now for some Challenge seats...harnesses...Gruppe M carbon intake....

The first pic are actually Speedlines on a single hub early TR but they use a special wheel that allows you to use 5 lug nuts for the looks. They are not load bearing. I think they are 18" wheels. Pretty tricky but cost about $4-5k for the set.
I have a couple extra sets of wheels also and thought about a set of black rims, by refinishing OEM's.................. Here are some very "rough" photo shop renderings......... By the way my final decision, if I ever do decide to do a set.......all black/satin black/no chrome or accents of any kind................ But it's very hard to beat the OEM wheel IMHO... Sorry, also posted on the other thread. http://www.fantasyjunction.com/archive.php?id=d023418e4578536d4718ddf44a188a63 Don't know how post just the car/wheels only. Jr
Thanks Kerry - those examples helped. I guess its the last look you posted with the chrome centres. Not a great look in black so either a dark graphite or a pale gold I think. Off to see Barry the Sprayer at lunchtime, should have them back late this week. I'll stick some pics up for general abuse later. Thanks for all the input

ohhhh...I ment I wanted to see the original poster with his Red TR with the painted wheels....The black looks very evil....
After seeing Kerry's mock-ups I decided against the graphite / black - purely because the chrome centre lug looks wrong I think. Anyway I went for a pale gold instead. I haven't picked them up from the sprayers yet as I've been fully focused on the start of the E30 BMW Race season - you need orange wheels for that obviously - but I'll pick them up next weekend, slap them back on the Big Red Fiat and I'll post some pictures up
thanks for posting the bigger pictures, mksu19 I hope you can view my car with painted wheels black center/red lip. Jr Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Any chance you have a full side shot while parked. First impressions I did not like....but a few looks, and I think it looks very cool. I wonder what it would look like with black in the middle and a polished lip instead of red.
My current wheels for 87 TR painted black w/red outer lip. I'll be getting my 18" speedline wheels soon and will post the update. Jr Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
