The thought of having a 924S and 928S4 side by side in my possession is a good one, but I'm not looking to expand at this point. Within the next year I will be looking for an additional ride, but it likely will not be a 928S4. I appreciate your recommendation, and know that it would be fun indeed judging from your experiences. I honestly can't say for sure what will be next. The thought wasn't in my mind of actually buying a Porsche, and I didn't even know of the 924's until I came across one. Having it now gives me something to spend time on that I truly enjoy.

YEA BABY! Is that MY CAR? Kidding, wrong wheels, but my '81 looks JUST LIKE THAT ONE! Love them!

KraigG, just noticed where you are from. Going to Sharktoberfest this year? I am going to TRY and get out there. Not sure I will come in or bring a Shark but I have not made that event yet, and I need to. Have not seen Anderson since '04 at the OCIC. I have his old race car and have put it back on track. You can see the pics from earlier in this thread.

LOVE the wheels and S4 spds are AWESOME! The GT's from '90/'91 tend to have engine oiling issues that cause them to blow up when used at ANY level of track events. I have seen auto-Xing and DE's both blow them up. Compared to the S4 5spds and GTS's it happens WAY more w/ the '90/'91 GT's. Never seen it happen to an auto of any kind. Must be something about the rpm's they are getting reved to.

GREAT CAR! Keep it nice and keep the 928 faith brother!

Thanks James; agreed there are some oiling issues in the 928 that only appear at 10/10 on the track. High rpms and high cornering G's: oil foaming and oil starvation at the pick-up are to blame.
The S4s really don't give up much to a 928 GT and I prefer the taller gears and fatter mid range anyway.
    VTC: spring's coming!!!

I have seen it well below 10/10ths in several GT's. That said, the drivers in both cases were quite good and pressing the issue hard, but still not 10/10ths I don't think. At least not 10/10ths of the car. Maybe of their skills though. I agree that there are oil issues, but in BOTH cases the second time they blew the cranks had been drilled AND they had those oil sump things...Accusumps on board!

Chris, get that bad boy out of the moth balls man! 928's are just TO MUCH FUN! Parts readily available and not to expensive, many older P-car guys can work on them. Way easier to live with than an F-car! That said, I look forward to my first F-car later this year, IF I can quit buying watches from you! LOL! ;)

    Best to all!

Was that last shot from SITM? I would LOVE to hit OCIC, SITM, and Sharktoberfest all in the same year! That would be like 928 overload! Are they still doing the one out in VA/DC area? What was that one called? I went to it back in '98 I think it was. Took my mom of all things! We flew out together. Took my dad to the Porsche 50th celebration in Carmel/Pebble Beach for the Historics, I think that was the same year.

The event you are referring to is "928 Frenzy", and it is around the end of September (9/28) every year. SITM is the one not to miss, the area is surrounded by the Blue Ridge Parkway which I call "God's race track". Look up the event info on www.928GT.com and also look up Roger Tyson who has a business "928s-R-Us" in the DFW Texas area. He is a big wheel in the 928 scene and huge enthusiast.

James Morrison?? You are pretty well known for your 928s and the euro GTS!!!!!!

p.s my silver wheels are 9.5x18 et68 front (no rubbing) and 10x18 et52 rear, and I can run 265/35/18 at both ends. Forged 1 piece from ccw 19.2lb front and 20.6 rear. My original center caps fit them as well.

You figured me out! Love going out into my garage! It is a 928 event every time I open the door! LOL!

I am very good friends w/ Roger. I was up at his house back middle of Dec and will probably go by and see him again the end of April, hope there will be a little 928 gathering on the 19th (Saturday) when I am up there in fact! We will see. Been trying to get Sterling on the ball w/ that one! ;) I want to see his beast too!

928 Frenzy! YES, thanks, that one was killing me. I had not gone back to look at all my info or I would have found it. Good times. Looking forward to SITM soon!

Love your car! The S4's w/ the GTS mirrors look great and the black is hard to keep clean, but when it is looking good it looks GREAT! Those are pretty wide wheels you are running! VERY NICE to match up front and rear I can tell you that for sure. Helps w/ the balance using the factory alignment settings. Just drive an OB car (or my race car... 12" X 16" all the way around and WAY more track on the front accordingly) and you will see how balanced a 928 really can be (and should be in my view).

    Best!

I have found some pics of my fav P-cars...

The white 928GTS is actually a Pearl effect white '95 GTS w/ a tan interior. AWESOME CAR! The paint was an option. The interesting thing is that I always thought the paint to match option was very affordable through Porsche. It is like a $2500 option. Well, that is just the cost for the opportunity to paint it YOUR color, THEN they charge you for the paint!!! For this car the option plus the paint came to a total of almost $14,000!!! YEOW!

LOVE the blue Boxster! That was a factory color from several years back (Riviera blue) so it was cheaper to paint that car but still a pretty big upcharge.

The Yellow GTS is a German car and was for sale for a VERY LONG TIME in Germany. Might still be for sale. They want/ed WAY to much for it!

The Red S4 on track is proof that the 928 REALLY IS a rich doctors car! LOL! That was an IMSA race back in '98. That car was the one that set the land speed record of 171.172 mph back in the summer of '86 at Bonneville. That car is now raced by a guy in CA, Mark Kibort.

The Green car is an '89 GT and is owned by a friend. The car has about 330 miles on it. Probably the lowest mile 928 left! My friend bought it a bit over a year ago now I think and paid close to $100k for it. The color is Oak Green. He needed it to finish out his collection. I think the ONLY Porsche he did not have at least one copy of was a 928. Of course he wanted the best! He got it!

    Very, VERY NICE!
I remember the pearl white GTS, love that color. The 300 mile GT is unreal too. My buddy has an '87 S4 5 speed with porsche script (and sport seats) that are perfect. I will post some pics of that interior soon.
Maybe I will see you at SITM '08???

Some pics of mine: un-US federalized in a way- corner markers removed and rear bumperettes. Also deleted the rear wiper. Just like the ROW 928s.

I love it w/o the rear bumperettes and side markers! I am not sure I have EVER intentionally used my rear wiper. Not sure why they even bothered to put them on! The CS and SE models did not have them, but I think all the rest did. I know my Euro '92 GTS does.

I hope to make SITM, but not holding my breath at this point. We will just have to see how things go between now and then.

Keep the pics and stories coming. I LOVE the green GT3RS! Those cars are AWESOME!

Is that dunkelblau? That is what color my '88S4 is. VERY unusual color! You don't see many p-cars in the non-metallic version of our color! I really like it!

Copenhagen blue, I think they had it from 83-85. There is no standard non metallic blue for the later cars that I'm aware of.

Yea, dunkelblau went all the way through '89 and I believe was a standard color all the way up to that point. I know it was standard choice in '88 on 928's anyway.

I sure do love the 997TT! They are just beautiful in my view. Not as pretty as a 599 but about half the price and quicker, probably go around a race track every bit as fast or faster too. My taste does not include the yellow dials w/ that color red interior but to each his own. Also I find the Seal Gray just to understated for me. Give me Alpine White or Meritime Blue or even Guards Red or Arena Red! You can't go wrong w/ seal gray though or maybe that is CGT Gray/silver whatever, I don't know. Looks good to me.

Just noticed it is a Tip w/ Sport Chrono, that will go 0-60 in about 3.4 sec! AWESOME!
