Absolutely not. You're entitled to make as much money as you can. You were the one who dismissed the $2500 as a pittance in post no. 68 on this thread.
Valid points taken. But where do you, the business, draw the line? When is enough actually enough? When does a customer start becoming unreasonable? Its not like many of us haven't been screwed over before, and I am sure this is what Josh is feeling like. Couple that with not having even a basic clue, even though dozens of people gave him a clue, makes a person feel helpless. For all we know Josh could have asked Roy for 150K, 100K for the car and 50K "hush money". Josh doesn't strike me as a reasonable person, but that just my opinion. This all happened on a Monday evening. If I got a call / email, from someone telling me Josh's story, I would not just cut a note on the spot. I need some time to figure out what happened. For all I know I could be getting scammed, as this isn' the typical run of the mill senario. This means I need to make lots of phone calls and then wait for the return calls. After I have some info I can then make an informed decision and if that means shelling out a 100K then so be it. Yes it sucks waiting and you would have to trust me that I am busting my ass trying to figure out what went on. The fact that Roy even did anything to investigate this FOR Josh is helpful. He is not obligated to do anything. He could have just as easily told him to go pound sand. And even after the libel on this board, he appears to still be co-operating. And yes, maybe coming to the boards and lying about being sold a stolen car helped kick things into a high gear, but there comes a point where you stop kicking the guy in the nuts when he is trying to help you, when he doesn't have to do squat. Perhaps others in Roy's positions would have done more or less, but since we are not, it is easy to cast stones when no one, except Roy and Josh really know what went on.
The truly most amazing thing about this thread: Where did that numbnut get the money to buy a Gallardo? Was he mowing lawns with Dan C?
How many times are you going to continue to use the , " i didn't know" excuse" ? The "I didnt know" excuse doesnt grant you immunity.
How many rakes are you going to step on before you knock even the slightest modicum of sense into your noggin? The LAW says that Roy can't give you any money for legal fees. He made the offer, without knowing that it was illegal/unethical. It was obviously not a wise offer to make either way, but he's explaining WHY the offer has been rescinded. Just a story, I wonder if there ever was a car. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
This thread reminds me of a movie I saw once... "Dude, where's my car?" Dude, I don't know" NO "ANTHEN"!!!!
Roy, Time to sue this kid now for Slander. I feel horrible for him but his comments are just out and out slander at this point! Roy you have tried to help this genius as much as possible. Telling him to file a claim so your insurance can get on it asap, advising him to get a atty etc etc. All he keeps doing is throwing you under the bus for this incident in which neither you nor he were at fault. Enough is Enough Let your atty handle this from now on Mike
If Roy would have paid he would have jepordized his insurances companies postion to adjust the claim. In turn possible being denied and recouping any of his money. Think People. If you are in a car accident and not at fault you decide "Oh I am going to be nice" and hand over a couple grand to the claimant. Then call your agent and say, " hey I paid someone $2k I was in a non fault accident with and I want my $2k back can you cut me a check"? AMAZING
Have you actually read any of the thread, or just posted pointless comments? It has been clearly stated over and over, that a defective title does not clear a licensed dealer of any wrong-doing. No ****ing wonder you have 1100 posts in 3 months...
Have you!? It was stated time and time again that THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE TITLE! Besides, the question that 360spider was refering to was for Roy to give him money to pay for his lawyer! That's why I deleted the post in the first place!
To bring up another point of EXTREME interest here, and this relates specifically to something Roy said in one of his first posts in the thread and I'm really surprised no one brought this up: Based on the timeline Roy - you KNEW about the situation in STEP 6, and this was BEFORE THE COURT GOT INVOLVED ISSUING THE WRIT, at which point it got served to wherever Josh lives and they pulled him over and took the car. What I want to know is - How long did YOU KNOW you had sold someone a car that was involved in a title dispute BEFORE the cops found your customer and took the car away?????????? Based on what I know of the legal process the time between when you got that phone call and the cops loading the car on a flatbed in the photos that initiated this thread is either weeks or months. I mean ROY - You have claimed on this forum that the first you heard from Josh YOUR CUSTOMER was when he posted here on the this board with pictures of the cops hauling the car away - i.e. he posted here before calling you. Who gives a crap about him calling you. When were YOU going to call HIM? Again I'm going by YOUR timeline. Read above what you wrote. So after the part where 'real laughing' begins, did you pick up the phone and call Josh and say "Look man, you know that car I sold you x amount of weeks or months ago? Well a leasing company called me and looks like we have a problem. You should get the car back to me and let me refund you money". Instead, according to your timeline, you laughed, and then told the leasing company to 'go after your customer' and get the car back. Obviously what you meant was for them to go after Mr. Out-of-the-country but quite literally what they did is GO AFTER YOUR CUSTOMER (Josh) and snag the car. If that is the case, I would never do business with someone who after the sale, if they found out something had gone horribly wrong, didn't call me but instead sat on the news, waiting to see how it played out. And based on your timeline this is what you said you did......
Hahaha... I was wondering where that post went. Sorry for the misunderstanding. By the way Josh's post was worded, I thought he meant that Roy didn't know about the title, which I believe he didn't. However, as has been said repeatedly on here, that is part of the risk a dealer takes; a screwed up title means the dealer is on the hook, not the consumer.
Offering to pick up the legal tab for Josh was the biggest mistake Roy have made so far... BIG mistake, not only it makes him look bad for not coming through with it but it also makes him look even worse for making it in the first place as someone who is admitting or partially admitting guilt and is trying to make up for it by making this gesture... Roy, is there anything you want me to remit to our Lambo Power audience that is NOT a personal msg to Allan.. ? I will gladly do so in the name of the balanced reporting... ~Joe
