2005 Red/Tan 15K F1 fully serviced, drives tight. I know many of you would say you would NEVER buy one, but I think you would, if it were $1. So my question is, how much discount would you give it - what would you pay for this, knowing it was a prior rental (one of those clubs where you can drive a different exotic for a membership fee)? What would you pay? All opinions welcome.

    Spider or Coupe?

    Correct - there are MY'05 360s.

I'm interested to see how people respond to the original post. I'm sure I'm going to take a bunch of heat for this one, but given a reasonable discount (maybe 10% below others) no paint work, and a solid PPI, I'd probably buy the car. While I understand that people certainly could have driven it hard, that sort of what it's meant for. I wouldn't be surprised if it needed a clutch, but that's easy enough. I'm sure that the owners of the club check the car out after each rental, do all the right maintenance, etc. Frankly, it seems just as likely to buy a used Ferrari on the open market that was driven very hard all the time by the prior owner. I'm sure many of the guys who belong to clubs like this don't drive the cars hard at all.

Might be a deal to be had on this. IMHO

I would personally stay clear of any Ferrari rental car.

Defo, I wouldn't entertain one, there are plenty of others out there.

I'd consider getting one for a discount of 20%. Resale will be tough I reckon.

Well regardless of which model it is, I wouldn't dock it any more than 10% provided that the PPI is solid and the clutch isn't due soon.

With renters, some will be abusive and some will be intimidated. I'm sure some 1-owner cars out there may've had rougher lives but a rental car is likely to have been treated a bit different.

But remember, these cars are solid. They won't crumble in pieces for revving it to redline.
That said, you should get a thorough PPI. If it's good and the deal is good, buy and enjoy.

+1 on both points. Only buy it if you plan on driving it 'til it's dead and then parting it out.

Thanks for the quick responses. 430 Coupe. Needs a new clutch. Spoke with the mechanic and he said it's in good condition - been serviced regularly. Not really sure how much dollar value to put on it. $170? $180?

+1. My buddy has a previous F-car rental. He has less problems with his car than anyone else I know. Perhaps it's because the car was driven harder than he ever does, and any problems while it was a rental was always done in a timely matter?

For another 10 or 20 grand you can buy a low miles no stories car. Why buy a car with stories?
