95 355 GTS RED Tan, Tubi, 17K miles, and recent Major to the tune of 17K including valve guides. Nice car, thoughts on price and the car. I know that 95 is considered one of the most desirable years with the valve guides done, just wondering what all you 355 gurus think?

Everything depends on what a seller and a buyer agree on of course. Depending on those circumstances, I would place at between $65K and $75K, depending on the overall condition and the level of "motivation" on the part of both parties.

What does it usually run at both "dealer" and "independent" for resolving the valve guide issues?

Any pictures? I would think $75K since it's a GTS with the major and valves done. Could be more is someone has been looking on just that color and year..:) A '95 or any GTS is a rare find these days....:D Good luck!!

65-75? Respectfully, my opinion is that's a little low for a GTS to begin with, never mind that the car has the valve job done AND a service.

GTS cars always get more than berlinettas. Even without the valve job, etc. the GTS retails for high 70s. With a Tubi, valve job and major service, and being a GTS? I say above well above $80 grand retail. The valve job adds value. It just does.

Try finding a '95 GTS with the valve guides done, recent major, and low miles... the answer is besides the one you mention, one cannot be (at all easily) found.

Would love to see these cars at those prices, but $80K for a 1995 car? Never happen....GTS or not...

There is no doubt that a 95 GTS (second only to a GTB) is the most desirable and the best year of all 355s. That being said, I would think, depending on condition, that 74k asking would be a good starting point. If it could be had for 69k - 70k you would have a good buy. Can you post some pictures?

I am no guru and in fact I am trying to figure out exactly what F355's cost. Here is a 95 355 GTS RED Tan, 29.7k miles, and recent Major to the tune of 15K including valve guides, clutch, etc. for $66k:

    http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_id=239681581&dealer_id=100005764&car_year=1995&model=F355&num_records=100&systime=&make2=&start_year=1981&keywordsfyc=&keywordsrep=&engine=&certified=&body_code=2&fuel=&awsp=false&search_type=both&distance=0&marketZipError=false&search_lang=en&make=FER&color=&keywords_display=&page_location=findacar%3A%3Aispsearchform&min_price=&body_style=COUPE&drive=&default_sort=priceDESC&max_mileage=&style_flag=2&sort_type=priceDESC&address=98122&advanced=y&end_year=2008&doors=&transmission=&max_price=71000&cardist=1634

So with that and assuming it is sold soon, you should get above $66k fairly easily. The plus for the listed car (assuming good title etc) is that the 30k was completed this week. Negatives are the paint chip and ding. Plus for your car, is it has 13k less miles. That has to be worth a buck or two. Maybe $70k+ but get into the mid $80's and you are into the 30k mile 360's which from my understanding are less expensive to maintain.

I am looking at the car; I think that was a bit unclear in my first post. Sold the 328 and I am starting the search for a stable mate for my 512 TR, bumped into this 355 and it looked like a real nice car - I think if it was black I would have not been able to stop myself from buying her. Thanks for the input.

Why does it feel so wrong to have just one?

If you look at picture 19 & 20 the hood/bumper cover is not flush could be just an alignment issue but never know.

Ok I have to admit it, I am a bit paranoid of the 355 issues and the cars having the reputation of being VERY expensive (my 512 TR is in for a Major right know so I fully comprehend the cost of Ferrari ownership and am modestly experienced with it). Hypothetical Scenario: One buys the 355 I am talking about with a 17K major including valve guides, what else can I accept for cost of ownership over the next 2 years? I don’t think the headers have been replaced. Yes I know I sound like a wining little biatchhh as I type.

Thanks again for your time 355 gurus

    Andrew (possible future 355 guru)

You should be good to go with the possible exception of the headers........

If the major has been done as well as the valve guides you are sitting pretty.

I was in the same boat as you a few months back...........1995 355 with 17k, new valves and guides and major done. I pulled the trigger and am extremely happy...........

So from one beyotch to another..............................DO IT!!

I own the car on Autotrader. It has NO issues. My tech just completed the Major yesterday. NO paintwork and NO alignment issues. Taking it out this afternoon if the weather stays good. I was seeking $66k while engine was out, not it is complete and price has moved up. Price was lower has to try an move it faster. More detailed info at www.theimportspecialists.com

The seller serviced the car themselves and it's still a 30,000 mile car. It would be hard to check and see if some of those service items were actually complete. The Carfax was clean though, and it's resale red so it's probably a good deal. I would have it checked out in depth.

We welcome any inspection. We use only factory parts, in biz since 1996. On this car I did install a Hill Engineering T/O and Flange, I think they are better than factory. In fact we have the ONLY Ferrari/Lamborghini trained tech in the area! We were the first shop, factory or independent, to have the heads off the 360 Modena. Not trying to give a commercial but, you don't stay in business long without integrity, especially highline cars.
