There was one at the Palo Alto Concours this last summer in California. The Car is spectacular to see in person and drew a very large crowd while it was there.

No, not Matsuda. Chassis #002 belongs to Shikuni (Shin) Okamoto. That's one corner of his shrine to Ferrari's in that photo.

An f50 gt which i believe was #003 was sighted by myself 6 months ago, still on the top level of light auto. Also i believe there modified enzo is still for sale, the sales man confirmed the calipers were from the factory. Can anyone confirm? I have more photo's which ill post later. Please note there wont be many pictures as photo's are strictly not alowed. (Please note the floor to confirm the location of this enzo to #003)

Sorry i just checked my personal records and #002 is not a matsuda car, i made a big mistake.... Im very sorry, there's just to many cars to keep track of these days.

Ahh - good to know that. :)

Are you able to say whether the longtail Gulf-liveried McLaren F1 GTR still there as well? We have that down as GTR #28R.

Are any of the three regularly driven or are they garage queens? It would be horrible for such wonderful cars to be kept from where they were meant to play, the track.

Thanks for posting the photo in #24. Never seen that before. That is a remarkable collection of Ferraris ... probably the most remarkable group (IMO) of five rare Ferraris I've ever seen in one place (or one photograph). Thanks! :)

Is Light Auto the dealership in Nagoya? I visted a dealer there last year (which in my fading memory was Light Auto) and was given a tour of the upper floors. I don't remember seeing an F50GT though! Although there was a M F1 and a few other very cool cars. For some reason, they didn't buy any carbon parts from a guy who walked in out of the blue.

But I go to Nogoya at least once a year and if the GT is still there I'll have to stop by again.

Does anyone know if there are any technical differences between #001 and #002/003?
I'm just asking because I often read that #001 is the only "real" one and the others were made from spare parts...

    Thanks in advance!

    :)

001 has been wrecked at least twice, I saw it happen once (ouch!). 002 and 003 are spare parts car, there were originally 5 chassises produced, the 4th and 5th were destroyed under court order. 001 is owned by the same gentleman that owns Ferrari of silicon valley (Redwood city). He's a rather nice fellow, he gave me a tour of the car himself. As we happen to at his dealership at the same time, the car spends quite a bit of time there.

Just to clarify - Giacomo Mattiolli is co-owner of Ferrari of Silicon Valley - his partner in that venture, Art Zafiropoulo, owns F50 GT #001.

It’s such a shame these cars don’t see much light of day. I think it’s probably a bigger shame that even if somehow I had the money to afford one, my ultimate dream car, none of the 3 owners would want to part with one at any cost.

Just on the off chance my thoughts are wrong, is there any country in which these would be legal to drive on the road?

Cold tires both times from the reports I read - once when the car was loaned to a professional driver at Sears Point/Infineon Raceway, and again later with the owner driving at Laguna Seca. The first crash was much more significant than the second, reportedly requiring the tub to be replaced due to a crack. That repair took several months with the car being sent back to Italy. With the second crash, the damage was minor and the car was repaired with replacement parts already on hand apparently.
