I had a strut tower brace made for my track car and it's constructed from 4130 Chrome molly. It's temporarily been painted rattle can black
but I'd like a more durable finish.

Some ideas: Powdercoated, zinc plated, gold cad, nickle

Is there any kind of black plating that's very durable which will work on this?

    Any other thoughts.

parkerluberising (sp?) is a black finish readily available. Or, be like Roger Penske and just polish it.

strip the paint, Scotchbrite the whole thing and then clear powder coat it for the high tech look.

Got a better spelling or some other description/info than that? Google finds nada.
What sort of a finish is it? How is it applied?

    Thanks.

If you're going to race it, paint it. If you're just going to show it, plate it.... :)

Google "Keco" in Indianapolis, they do it for the race teams. It's a finish used on racecar suspension pieces.

Never powdercoat suspension parts on track cars.

The tough flexible coating will hide cracks that you might want to know about.

Chrome plating is likewise a bad idea because of embrittlement during the process.

It's a front strut tower brace. If I get a crack in this piece I have a lot of other much larger problems. But I hear you ...

Maybe just a nice rust finish then ... ;>)

Rust patina will go nicely with the rest of the car... Now let's talk about sequins on the racing suit. (I'll show you for making fun of my car).. See you at the track .

When did I make fun of your car? Might have been a good idea if it had. It would have been the most fun either of us have had in our track cars for years ...

    This year, no frickin' problems!

Sequins ... racing suit? Paul, I'm worried about you.
