Is the chines market really the best in the world? I heard ferrari sold more cars in China than anywhere else last year. Are there many specialist dealers in China that sell other prestige cars, lambo's pagani's koenigsegg etc.

As a seperate point, how easy is it to take a uk car to china. I have a friend moving to Shanghai and he doesn't know wether to take his F430 with him or sell it and buy something out there.

they sold about 145 F-Cars in China, L cars are less than sold in Australia.

The cost of a brandnew F430 is about double the price in USA.

if you have a LHD car in UK then answer is maybe, its a very difficult thing to do. Years ago there were heaps of loop holes you can jump, now its fairly hard for anyone to bring a second hand car into the country. Tax is very high, close to 90%, then registration is about 8k USD if you want to register in Shanghai or Beijing. But with import like that, chances are you won't be able to.

The Chinese Market is growing fast, but not the best.

USA sold 1,762 units last year.

Very true. Fast growth from low base. Potential is immense but the US is still the grandaddy - subprime and all!

in China a lot of the buyers of Ferraris and Lambos are young lads with rich daddys, older generations are generally a lot more toned down and less flamboyant. I think they can easily double the sales in the next few years. but to reach the level of say USA or Japan, is a long way away.

The segment you mention is for sure a factor but there are also lots of self-made entrepreneurs in their 40's who are rapidly acquiring a taste for the best. That is where the real growth will come from

no doubt what so ever in that. But i still think it'll be a few more years when they get a bit more comfortable of showing wealth in public. They've got no problem showing social status in public tho :D

to go back on topic: How many feel the Chinese market will be huge, even for Ferrari, in the near future [ I mean <10 years] for Ferrari?

I do. IF even .0001% of the population purchases a Ferrari old/new/on-the-announcement, then they would double all world sales.
