My first GP was in '74 at Watkins Glen; sadly the year Helmut Koiniig was killed. I was 13 and needless to say the notion of death relative to a sporting event had never really gelled for me until that day. I was in awe of the machines and the drivers, guys (and gals, e.g. Lella Lombardi) willing to risk their lives in a car. It was an alien concept for me as well as most kids growing up watching baseball and football back then. I was hopelessly hooked on motor racing that day...

I started at the very beginning of the Schumacher era. The first full season that I watched was his first season with Ferrari. Since that was 96, I was 15.
