But if he were overweight, did not work out, and was a beer-drinker, then I suspect that Mr. Parker would be all in favor of his public sanction. OK, I don't know that for sure, but -

The point made before is that the scandal brings disrepute to the sport. It is really the same as the paperGate last year...and it was not enough for the Dennis/MCL fans to just say "everybody cheats in F1".

So now what we have are apologists saying "well, everybody is a little kinky, we just don't know for sure about their private lives".

Wake up call - when you are this prominent in a sport and get caught on the videotape, then EVERYBODY KNOWS FOR SURE.

So let the FIA take this great opportunity to rid themselves of their malfunctioning problem.

Seems that you're making an assumption that Bernie would remain in his position. A little bit presumptuous of you, don't ya think? Interesting.....

Maybe you can also explain how I would be putting money in his pocket IF he remained in his position? I don't go to F1 races or buy F1 merchandise, I ignore product advertising for any program on TV with a passion, I don't "do" surveys. If someone would call me up and ask what programs I watch or what type of toothpaste I use I would hang up on them. So, explanations please.

PS. I do not wonder if my attitude is common.

Well, we do have a little problem this week out there in San Angelo, Texas and the 400+ teenage brides and kids from the compound...

At some point, society really has to step in for EVERYBODYs wellfare, even if it is tough.

Will the FIA wake up and smell the coffee?

Or, have they all been watching "The Night Porter" and think this is all OK?

    OK, everyone, let's think for a second or two . . .

First, Prostitution is illegal in most countries, and I think it is illegal in England. WHETHER IT SHOULD BE ILLEGAL OR NOT is open to debate, like legalizing drugs or other vices. But, to say that Max did nothing illegal is wrong.

Second, typically, those who act as prostitutes and those who hire prostitutes are not necessarily arrested. The girls/guys who engage in it are frequently in need of money and are being exploited by their pimps. (Not to mention the Russian girls that are figuratively enslaved in prostitution.) So, the object of the prostitution is generally the money laundering and the pimps--which is a reasonable exercise of law enforcement.

Third, while we all have our deamons to conquer, we all do not have them so pubicly exposed. In my job, I don't seek publicity and if I did, it would not likely help my income. Max, on the other hand, is in charge of a very public enterprise and his wealth is based directly on his power (real and perceived) and his ability to command a public stage. Because of that, he is held to a higher standard--not as a sinner or a saint--but as a person whose job involves the public. Accordingly, when he stumbles so publicly he must pay.

HERE IS AN EXAMPLE . . . in my job, I recently had a very atractive young woman come into my office in tears. She was having a problem at work. As she walked in and closed the door, I invited my administrative assistant to join us to take notes. I wanted a witness to whatever was to transpire. As soon as the meeting was over, I called my wife to let her know as much as I could about the meeting. The last thing I needed was a very attractive young woman walking "out" a closed door to my office crying. Later, this woman accused a man in our office of sexual misconduct, which I believed to be a false claim.

The point is that a person has to be conscious of the consequences of their behavior. If they are willing to suffer the consequences, then they can engage in the behavior at will. If however, they get this supercilious, palms up, what did I do wrong? posture, then they are slimy pieces of crap for wanting it both ways. Max paid the hooker, now he has to pay the price. Tough s**t, Max. That's life.

The Texas matter involves children...not consenting adults...so a society has the right and obligation to step in and protect the children....Mosley and his leichtlebige frau hookers are consenting adults and should be left along in a free society ...

I didn't quote the whole thing, (as we should probably not quote-paste long posts just to make a short point) - but:

Public image is a major issue. General propriety is a major issue. Especially for public figures.

What do they say about legal/political issues similar to this one - "to avoid even the APPEARANCE of impropriety".

Now - what I really don't understand with Mosley apologists is this: McL and Dennis, I kind of get the apologists - they were probably McL fans and McL was and is a great racing team. So be it.

    But Mosely? MAX MOSELY?

Nazi S&M? The guy who wants to put stupid engine/transmission change rules in effect? Who wants to turn down the rev limiters and limit the BHP? Who wants hybrids?

WHY, WHY, WHY take the trouble to disgrace yourself in public in order to defend ANYTHING about him?

"Nazi S&M? The guy who wants to put stupid engine/transmission change rules in effect? Who wants to turn down the rev limiters and limit the BHP? Who wants hybrids?"

This is an excellent example of what someone mentioned previously..... that many here don't care about the whole Nazi thing or if it's offensive to others. They want him out because of decisions he has made in motorsports and proposals he has on the table. I think a lot of people are feigning offense here (but certainly not all) and are jumping on the bandwagon to get him out. I wouldn't shed a tear if he's gone tomorrow but some of the arguments I've seen here seem to lack credibility or rationale.

+100 back to you. (Or, so to speak - did you perhaps mean to say whip?)

OK, I am really starting to wonder if anything is going to happen to Max. I am not hearing anything new on this
at all; and we seem to be just posting back and forth with various moral speculations...

Is it POSSIBLE that Bernie and the FIA could actually take the "Parker Position" and do a "whatever will be, will be"?

Sad day for racing if that is the case.

Doesn't matter - she finally ran off to the Balkans with some Goth kid from the Seattle Grundge scene.

Kimi is now more appropriately with twin china dolls, (he stole them from the Toyota team).

    a) - tabloid can put the 90sec video back up on website, according to british court (the cat being out of the bag so to speak, says judge).

    b) - FIA confirms it will vote on him June 3. (what the heck are they WAITING FOR?)

    c) - New Zealand Auto Association dis-invites Max for spring/summer conference.

    And another.....

    Montoya: Mosley debacle 'hilarious'
    Wednesday 9th April 2008

Juan-Pablo Montoya is seeing the funny side of the Max Mosley sex scandal.

While most of the Formula One fraternity have criticised the FIA President after tabloid published details about his involvement in a sado-masochistic orgy with prostitutes.

Montoya admits he was shocked when he first heard about the video, but stopped short of condemning Mosley.

"Of course I saw the video! I loved that. I did. I did," the Columbian told The Associated Press when asked about the clip.

"It is a laughing matter! You know, when I first heard about it, it was shocking.

"But then he decided to play it like nothing has happened and it's just so hilarious.

The former McLaren and Williams driver says he found Mosley's "Slap me, baby?" comment amusing, but refused to get involved in the debate about whether Mosley should quit.

"I do have an opinion on it, but I am not going to say it, and I am glad I am not there."

I do love the "Max can't talk right now, he's tied up in meetings" joke.
