Like I said just because its Nurburg doesn't mean its gonna be god like at every other track around the world. Second not all drivers who will own these cars will put those numbers up, who knows some might be capable of beating those numbers but others(Most) probably won't even average that.

I enjoy reading all the f-car enthusiasts who think the GT-R is "U-G-L-Y" when Ferrari is pumping out cars like the Enzo, F430, and the 599. And it seems like the "F149" is going to follow suit.

    :D :D

And then there's the weight issue. . . I think the 599 weighs more than the GT-R and lacks a backseat, am I right?

Ill take the GTRs or the G35s interior over the C6s anyday, as will virtually anyone that isnt a Corvette fanboy. Your one to talk about the GTRs hype, if I remember correctly you hype the ZR1 up, funny how if the ZR1 was clocked running 7:25 at the Ring everywould would be praising it yet a ton of magazine tests later and people are still whining and trying to make excuses. If you think the GTR isnt worth 70k then you better well believe the Z06 isnt worth 70K either and the ZR1 isnt worth 100k then.

I personally like the 599 and the 612, I am NOT a fan of the Enzo and even less the FXX. I can take or leave the 430, but the 360 was drop dead gorgeous! But, what the hell do I know, I like 928's too and have a BUNCH of them!

Good point there, the GT-R is no swan but neither are some new Ferraris out there. I was at the Ferrari dealership last week and honestly the Maserati Gran Turismo looks better than most new Ferraris on the showroom floor. I don't really care about the 10/10 performance of these cars, but the new GT-R is simply Epic! There is no other way to describe it, this car breaks all the rules, left enthusiasts speechless regardless of who made it.

For those complaining about Japanese cars don't have a 'soul,' the GT-R has more soul than most European cars these days.

For those who says nobody would buy a GT-R over a Ferrari - I would.

A 1:57 on Buttonwillow #13 CW is ungodly fast. I was there a few weeks back and a Supercharged C5 Z06 making 650hp on slicks with Stoptech brakes was running a mere 1:54.xx.

It's clear that the GT-R got virtually all of it's time in the Lost Hill corner (which is understandable, that's where the best handling cars make a lot of time) and the entrance to the Esses.

I've been wondering if super sticky tires (the Z06 has runflats!) are the spoiler. I guess we'll know if a bunch of owners spring class action lawsuits ala NSX when they start burning through tires every 5000 miles!

Of course, the OEM rear tires on my GT3 were done in 7000 miles. :)

I am sure tires had little bit to do with it, but to be fair, GTR is running runflats too.

Look if all your gonna judge a car by is its interior buy a Bentley!.

The GTR is all hype and thats just the truth cause I see is a great lap time at one track and all the sudden everybody thinks its gods gift to the road. The car is ugly as hell, the interior should be better and worst of all its 70k! for a Nissan at that!. I don't know where you get off thinking iam hyping up the ZR1 cause iam not even close but the truth of the matter is its going to be a freakish fast car when it hits the streets no doubt about it. To be truthfull I can do alot with 70k besides waste it on a Nissan even if it is the GTR, if I want performance I can build a GTM or an Ultima for much less than will run circles around the GTR as well as be more exotic and practical than the GTR and still have money in my pocket. :D and the same could be said about the Z06 or 911. In other words you can do better with 70k.

I will own on in the future without a doubt as a daily driver but i ain't paying 70k for it regardless of how "Fast" it is I don't care if it can out accellerate an F15 fighter jet I still wouldn't pay 70k for it.

Umm, in what alternate universe is a GTM or Ultima more practical than the GT-R?

Son... the private GTR has already schooled the R8, the GT3, the TT and the M3 in England. The interior in the GTR is fairly plain but of very good quality materials, certainly better then the 996 Porsches. The Ultima would be undriveable in humid... let alone wet conditions.

Can do better with 70K? Stock? Lol Ok. Go back to school. It's not Summer yet.

Umm hmm and the GTR's G35/350GT like interior is top of the line and comparing it to an older porsche and you forgot to point out how "great it looks" parked next to the competetion. :D. I think a base model C6 looks better than the GTR.

Your telling me to go back to school and yet you would rather waste 70k on a nissan?. sport just because it put up a decent laptime at the Ring doesn't mean iam buying into the hype, every track, condition and driver is diffrent so not everybody is capable of doing the 7:25 let alone race on that track. Ill wait a couple years and grab one but other than that i won't waste my hard earned money on something thats gonna cost less than 40k in the used car market in 5years from now.

I think Summer school classes are starting soon :D.

It can be built to be more practical than a GTR after all its a kitcar. Apparently you and Russian M3 know nothing about kits, you decide what you want when you buy them and there are no factory specs so you decide on performance, interior, whatever. iam not talking about a modified Supra or something like that being matched up to this.

Could not agree more with that. I am a HUGE Porsche fan and the first time I saw a 996 and a Boxster interior I was COMPLETELY let down. That was just the nadir of the Porsche interiors in my opinion. TERRIBLE! The 928's always had such elegant and well made/laid out interiors and the later 964 and 993 911's while still classic in layout had very nice fit, finish and materials. Then they were going broke and man it is clear where they went to save money! Those interiors SUCKED!!!

Oh, this is the GTR thread. That thing is BUTT UGLY! Might be the greatest car known to man kind but it is UGLY and uninspired. I'd rather buy a 300ZX TT or a Supra TT if I wanted a high performance Japanese car. Or even better an NSX (early version...didn't like the last few w/ fixed headlights. They looked like a slapped on afterthought, which THEY WERE!)

    YMMV!

How can anyone say that the GTM or Ultima can possibly be more practical than a four seat, series production car? You can transport more than one friend at a time in the GT-R. You can drive the GT-R year round, even in the snow (there's an optional winter package). It can carry luggage. It doesn't have ground clearance issues. It has easy ingress and egress. These are all practical advantages.

These are pathfinder pickup truck advantages.

For once (and maybe only once) I find myself in agreement with Pantera!

BTW, yes - I did own a Pontiac Fiero...V6 GT, 1986. It broke and I traded back up to another old 911.

This is the key question, the other bases are mostly covered. Autoweek thought the lexus ISF was more fun to drive than the GTR. And the ISF pales to the new M3 which is described as less alive than the e-46 which I think is pretty bland. So on its face the power and grip of the GTR are where the pleasure will be found.

EVO though rated it as a car of great finesse.
