The roads in my part of the world are not the best, i had a 430 that i used as a weekend car and could not bear the rough ride, i'm currently ordering a 599 which my dealer informs me has a much softer suspention setup to go with the GT personality of the car. can i have your input on this and how it is in comparison to 430, M6 (on comfort mode) and 911 turbo?

is the car a daily driver or not?

thanks for your input and advise.

I shall be interested in others responses, personally I think it would be equal to the 430 and stiffer than the M6/ 911.

The 599 can be a total daily driver.. the suspension stiffness changes with the mannetino and for around town driving, Sport mode is fine.. turn the switch to Race and your teeth with rattle out of your head. Compared to a 430, it is a complete night and day difference.. driving the 599 around town or on the highway is a complete joy.. the cabin is quieter, the ride is supple and you can actually talk on the bluetooth speaker phone and carry on a conversation with no problem..

599 is softer than the 430, 911 Turbo is actually softer than both. I've owned a 599, driven several 430s (my 430S is currently inbound to replace my CS) and drive a 997TT as my daily.

I think the 599 is a great "one supercar" choice. I sold mine since it was too much of a compromise for me - a great GT and your salesman is right very different to a 430. I personally prefer the 430 since its more sporty, more immediate, and yes less comfortable. Given your post I suspect you will love the 599.

I drive my 997TT everyday (snow tires in the winter) and love that - it drives like a bmw sedan but with 500 bhp.

Have not driven or owned an M6 (have driven a 645i, but I guess that doesn't count). Not a pretty car IMHO, so not on my "list".

I drive the 599 every day. I have over 7,000 miles of urban driving on it. It is the perfect daily driver for a solo person without passengers. It is as supple as you want it to be. I use the Sport setting mostly but if I'm in heavy traffic I switch to the regular setting on the Mannetino and put it into Auto mode. It behaves like a C class Benz in those conditions - perfectly comfortable and perfectly capable in traffic.
When you want the car to act like a full blown sports car, twist the knob to Race, switch off the Auto setting and it will blow your socks off as well as blowing away just about anything else you might encounter on the road.
This is the the most complete modern car Ferrari has ever built.

+1. If Hong Kong had bigger roads and easier parking i would have kept mine for exactly these reasons.

+2. Really useable, comfortable. Only kvetch from wife is lack of flywheel action, so you lift, and it slows, so if you're off/on gas, it is a little uncomfortable. Less in Auto. BMW can't tune suspensions anymore, 430 is very direct, uncompromising.
997 wheel feedback a little harsh, but softer than 430. 997's seem really tire sensitive.

I would argue that (depending on suspensions settings and assuming the ROW setup on the cars you mention) the M6 is most comfortable. 997TT and 599GTB are pretty much comparable in terms of ride comfort and the difference to the M6 is not huge.

Agreed that the 599 is an extremely comfortable ride. Lousy roads feel way worse in the 430 Spider than the 599. I didn't think roads got any worse than here in Michigan, so you & I are in the same predicament, although I've never used an exotic as a daily driver. The 599 is an absolute beast. Everytime I get on it, even briefly, I'm at or approaching 100MPH.

I've never been in an M6 or 997TT. I did own a 996TT for several years and drove it daily for a while. I had no complaints & found that it handled the bad roads well.

Sounds great, black with Cuoio is as classy looking as it gets IMO and suits the 599 as well as any.

Now lets make it clear Ive never driven a 599, but I have driven a 5-Series and a 997.

The idea of a GT Ferrari being a better riding car than a BMW is comfortable, but the 599?

A 997 will never deliver the carbon fiber arm-chair experience that a Ferrari or BMW can give.

The 599 is quite an animal, Im sure. But more day-to-day than an M6?
