    Paul,

    My car feels the same way every time I block it out. Remember those days!

    I didn't get a lot of time tonight, but I did finish side 1 and drilled about 7" in on side 2. The big answer on if the hole went straight will have to wait until tomorrow.

    I got the 5/16" hole through tonight and it looked pretty goo in the middle the best I could see any way. I started the 3/8" hole and it's in about 18" and looks to have cleaned up the center. So far so good. Another 3 weeks of drilling and I should have all 4 cams done :)

    Is that another pile of metal shavings I see on the floor? I'm still waiting for my jar of curly shavings from the block! :)

    You know Mark, that's a great idea....you could sell "Metal shaving souveniers" and "Frankenmotor" T-shirts to offset the cost of your project!

    So I got the first one done. The hole is not the straightest really, but I don't think it matters. It's though, it doesn't come anywhere near where it wold be a concer about break-out of even thin walls. I don't think out of balance is an issue , it is a camshaft after all so it out of balance by definition. I'm checking out the set up and re-indicating everything to be sure it's as good as it can be, then I'm going to drill the other 3. Look for up date of "still drilling" for the next couple weeks.

    I called the machine shop I sent the block to since I hadn't heard from them. The block made it there safe and sound, but being spring now they are quite busy and haven't looked at it yet.....so I'll have time to finish drilling the cam billet before it comes back.

    Lana says no more weeknights on the car until I get the yard work workcaught.....which doesn't seem all that fair since my part of work is caught up. Hopefully I'll be back to the car next week, I finished most of Lana's work for her yesterday and I think that's the key to car time :)

    I end up doing most of it for her every year. She loves to pick stuff in the garden when it's ready, but not so much the whole working in the dirt part. There are plenty of things she does take care of around the house, "her" garden's just not one of them. She really like's having it though so it doesn't bother me to look after it for her. She helped a few hours saturday and will most likely help a bit next weekend. It's got to get planted soon and unlike the car a week does matter, so the car will need to wait. I could use a little break from the car anyway.

    It's amazing how somethings in marriage transcend all international and cultural barriers.

    Some basic truths define our known universe:

    E = mc2

    a2 + b2 = c2

    When mommas not happy, aint nobody happy
