As said earlier, $5,000 seems to be a magic line in the watch world where interesting watches become available. TimeZone and WatchNet split their stuff at the $5k mark so its a natural for a thread. If you don't like watches, don't read/post to the thread. Anyway, here is my contribution: Image Unavailable, Please Login
thank you.....difficult question....i guess the AP Quentieme and the IWC Portuguese are regulars.....
Did you ever find out more on the Maros watch? I have one (in bad condition) and a few years ago I did a bit of research and information from Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry FH follow : According to their records the watch brand Maros was registred in 1965 by: MAROS LIMITED 9 King George Avenue JERUSALEM ISRAEL Thats all I know. Anyway email me and let me know if you got any more information. You can email me direct.
OMG - this is badass. Like your Rolls-Royce, Louis Vuitton bags, and priceless, endangered animal collection, the Urwerk UR-202 turbine regulated watch is another expensive item you don't really need. Still... you want it, right? Who wouldn't want this beast, what with its self-winding kinetic motor, telescopic minute hands, orbiting and revolving hour satellites, and fancy, mechanical turbines that we understand almost nothing about. But hey, when your timepiece is more complicated than a jet plane -- and likely more expensive -- you've probably made it. Check out the totally awesome video after the break to see this thing in... uh, action. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WLTBnIszCLE RMX Image Unavailable, Please Login
I LOVE the freak, is it yours? I saw that one in the rob report, I sat there for awhile trying to figure out how it works.
I know it's very expensive. I love Graham watches, they are amazing looking and very unique. (not 500g mind you) but why can't some of these "lower end" watch makers come up with these totally crazy, unique, "nothing else like it" type watches and sell them at a reasonable price. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I've always wondered why things that "look" expensive, are? Be it cars, watches, furniture, appliances, etc.
I am quite sure you will never see anything that complicated for under a grand. That is a very complicated piece of work there. As was stated the design and development alone costs a fortune. Even if a company was to do a knock off it just could not be done for a low price as the movement is far too complex to make for a low price. Personally I don't really care for the wild designs like this that are coming out these days. But I do have a lot of respect for the folks that are designing these and executing these complex designs. I just don't fine them pleasing to the eye. Best Regards, Thomas Carey

No, actually Horologio in The Venitian. I went to Tourneau though - that place was insanely large. They don't carry Ulysse Nardin though, as far as I could tell. There was a store in the Bellagio that did, but they didn't have this particular model, which I was looking for specifically.
Thanks Mark, awesome watch BTW. You obviously had that specific watch picked out. Did you do any research as far as pricing goes? Others on Fchat have mentioned that Vegas is an expensive place to buy a watch. Too many tourists!! I'll be making my yearly Vegas trip in the coming months and plan on biting the bullet on a nice timepiece. Mind you probably not 5 grand, between 2 & 3.
Did you check out the watch store in the Palazzo while you were there? I've never seen so many high-end brands in one place in my life. They had a bunch of UN, Patek, IWC, and a whole room of Glashutte Originals. One was listed for $520k and was #1 of 11 in the world. Another was a set of 5 with a built in watch winder for each and a humidor/mini bar for $250k or so. It was unreal. Another store in the Palazzo had several Richard Mille watches.
