Ok I will put it another way, as regard's to your original post.

You said Lewis is as much to blame for de-stablising the Mclaren team as Alonso.

Now do you think there is any team on the grid that would not sign up Lewis at the drop of a hat, because there might be a chance HE would de-stablise the team..?

    To fill you in:
Ron Dennis had stated Lewis was in the wrong disobeying his order's not letting Alonso past him to get the benefit of a clear track during the fuel burn-off, Lewis's car was ready earlier, they sent him on his way, but he was supposed to let Fernando by and didn't. That was disappointing. Lewis was then held up in the pit's behind Alonso and he assumed it was planned to stop him getting a last hot lap in.

Hamilton acknowledged his disobedience, in the heat of the exchange Lewis told Ron to Swivel.

Ron did not side with Lewis on that issue.

I either got the date wrong from wiki info or they had it wrong, who cares, but you got the right date. I knew what you meant and I agree.

Alonso will head over to Ferrari after Kimi retires, which will likely be within the next 5 years. His only real option, and frankly I think the best option from a sporting perspective, is to send him to BMW. I've been saying it for god knows how long he'll push BMW over the top to be a real powerhouse.

I think that he was saying that when Senna was paired with Prost he wasn´t champion yet.

And 1968 was a long time ago.

The most WDC's ever on the grid at the same time was in the 60's ... so you could say that was when the racing was the best because more drivers and cars were good.

Nowadays we are lucky if we have 2 WDC's on the grid ... for a long time it was only 1, and the quality of racing was poor because of it.

Now who took over F1, and supposedly made it better? ... Bernie (and Max as his puppet), but he didn't make it better he just televised it better. Big difference!

how? by taking things into in his own hands at HUngary last year. sure, Hammi started it, but Alonso with all his experience should have done better than holding up his mate at the quali.

This whole thing wouldn't have happened if Lewis wasn't as good as he is. If Lewis came in struggling to keep pace with Fernando, like Nelson jr. is now, then Fred would still be with Mclaren today.

my guess is Kimi will leave after being a triple WDC? his contract at Ferrari runs till end of 2010 right? so, if he does get 2 more crowns, he'll leave after his contract expires, jump in a gorilla suit, vodka in one hand and go for snow mobile races.

The question was if two WDCs ever drove alongside as teammates at any time in F1 history. Those were two examples off the top of my head.

1989, both Senna and Prosts had won WDCs.

Yes, but look how they finished.

Prost said that he had no problem when Senna won his first championship. The problems came later.

+1 Which is why I dont want him at Ferrari. If he goes well...so be it. He lacks the character that I think Ferrari should have. He folded at Mclaren rather than standing his ground and taking on the challenge of Lewis and his over bearing father. He left. Ferrari really doesnt need him. Kimi has the character I admire and the grit I think Alonso lacks. Kimi shows up, drives and doesnt cry in the press about his life in the team. Class, grit and performance.
Kimi sets the standard for the Scuderia. Alonso - 2 time winner and not much else to go with it. Hardly the admirable champion in my opinion.

I know the story, thanks. Ron didn't side with Lewis but it's not like he sanctioned him in any way either. He was dead wrong and started the whole deal. Alonso gets all the blame for the debacle at McLaren while Lewis is seen as the golden haired angel. BS, he's just as guilty as anyone and did everything he did to take control of the team. I think there are people that see Lewis as a McLaren creation and may have thier doubts about signing him, so i'd say yes to your other point. He had a dynamite start to his career but has tailed off since. Unless he gets back with the program really quickly he's going to be in for quite a struggle this year. Then we'll know what he's really made of.

That may be the only time. I don't remember it happening before or since either. This was also an incomplete season because Clark was killed early in the year and only ran in Kyalami so there wasn't time for problems to develop. Kimi and Fred are certainly not as gentlemanly as Clark and Hill were said to be. It would be fun to watch though, lol

well, you have a point. another interesting thing is, was it benefiting Lewis, using Fred's setup? he struggled in Silverstone last year when he opted to setup the car his own way, and now with Fred gone, notice how he's been struggling in the last 2 races?

i mean, if the car was crap, Heikki would have struggled too, but the point is, Heikki isn't...

I'am just bemused at the statements that the pairing of LH and FA destroyed the team, because they near as damn it won it.
Lewis bottled it at the end, but it in many way's it was written that way and probably for the best.

I still admire RD for letting his driver's battle to the bitter end it did cost them the title, but that's in the rule's.

As we all know there are not many team's that could withstand a hit of a fine that Max dealt out so I would say he was out to destroy RD and his team, not the driver's they were both out to win.

FA had become a problem or had a problem, early on in the season when he realized he was up against a fast Lewis. I'am not saying FA was at fault but his whining nature did not help his case.

I don't think Lewis has tailed off at all ,he needed some knock back's to make him a better driver, I mean if he wasn't joint 3rd in the WDC as of now, with 3 races run you may have had a point.

I'am sure LH did benefit at the start of the season with FA 's help regard's car set up, but this will have stopped quite suddenly I reckon. Don't forget FA was trying to bribe his engineer's with a bonus..

So it's still to early to say how much this is a factor as of now, because it didn't appear to slow him up last year toward's the later half of the season.

But it is a point, as HK is now level with LH.

I agree with you overall. FA is FA and he tends to speak his mind. Call it whining or what you like he's not going to change. I believe he felt, being that he was a two time champ, that he shouldn't have to fight with his rookie teammate, quick or not. Right or wrong, he's not abnormal for feeling this way. Had any other champion had faced something like this they would have likely done the same. FA's mistake was doing it publicly.

I think Lewis has tailed off a bit. Ever since Silverstone he's been a bit off. Whether it was down down to no longer being allowed to use Alonso's set up sheet, or whatever he seems less consistant now, and it started since last year. Also correct me if I'm wrong, but he's never won a race from anywhere but pole IIRC.

Alonso finished ahead of Hamilton 7 out of 9 races from Silverstone on. It did slow him down considerably. FA would have been world champ had it not been for his wreck in Japan.

Fernando Alonso insists he has "never had any problem" with his former McLaren team-mate Lewis Hamilton.

Alonso split with McLaren at the end of the 2007, just one year into a three-year contract following a turbulent season that often saw the Spaniard at loggerheads with team boss Ron Dennis.

The performance of Hamilton in his debut season also ruffled the feathers of Alonso, who felt the Woking-based squad were showing favouritism to the young Englishman.

But while Alonso admits he was left "disappointed" by certain members of his former team, he concedes that Hamilton was not one of them.

"Not everyone disappointed me," Alonso told El Pais newspaper. "Each one is how he is.

"I think that among the 1000 people that there are in McLaren, there are very great workers and engineers.

"But it is certain that, yes, there are people who disappointed me and who I couldn't work with.

"Hamilton wasn't one of them, he was on the margins of all that.

"People always talked about him and created this animosity, but I never had any problem with him."

Alonso, now at Renault after leaving McLaren, also absolved Hamilton of any blame over their infamous pit lane clash at the Hungarian GP, when Hamilton appeared to be impeded by Alonso, meaning he was unable to complete a final qualifying lap.

Hamilton's role in the incident was also called in to question, with McLaren admitting the Briton should have allowed Alonso ahead of him on the track during the fuel-burn phase of third qualifying, but the Spaniard lays the blame for the incident squarely at the feet of the team's management.

"If you are talking about Hungary, about the pit stop, well it wasn't his [Hamilton's] fault," Alonso continued.

"It was the team who should have taken measures and if I should have left first and given another lap to burn more fuel they should have ensured that it happened like that.

"Nevertheless, they didn't seem very interested in all that.

"It seemed that they weren't interested in me staying there.

"McLaren was a good car that gave me a chance of winning, but I knew that I could never do so in that team."

Just confirms what many people were trying to point out. The problem at McLaren last year was a management issue.

True, but even so Alonso still would have out scored him 6 out of 9 races. Alonso was the stronger driver towards the end of the year.
