Well, you are the one arguing against something that is well-documented and acknowledged as fact (all based on your inability to receive a television signal). No real tension, I'm just not in the mood to entertain this theory of yours- but I will send you a postcard from my trip to the Air & Space Museum tomorrow.
No, entirely wrong! I am not insulting anyone. I am looking for some good insight on the subject. I am very proud of the men and women who work for NASA. I just have some questions regarding the Apollo missions. This forum is a perfect way to get info from a wide range of people.
First of all I am not arguing, you are. I think it's kind of a good debate, but why is it that everyone feels they are above discussing it? I feel there are just as many issues and proofs that we did land on the moon. But doesn't some of the inconsistencies raise your eyebrow just a little?
Ahhh... but do/did "the soviets" really exist. How do you know their isn't a super-government run by the skull&bones crowd and that the entire cold war was made up to funnel monies to the fat cat owners of the defense companies? Since "the soviets" and USA are one and the same entity, why would the US expose it's own fraud!
Any large-scale accomplishment can be fodder for conspiracy theorists. The sheer multitude of data can be exploited for inconsistencies by any number of wackos. But to what end? Time wasting? Sending men to the moon was done by brute strength. Lots of engineers with slide rules, lots of money and determination. There was nothing outrageous about it. Stick people in a pressure vessel on a big-ass rocket and point them in the right direction. What they did is fantastic, but when looking at it incrementally there was nothing unbelievable about it. I like Buzz's response to one of those conspiracy wackos here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mQKxAqpjroo
Well, in a semi-related sense:: I dont think anybody questions the following - a) you have to AIM your sat dish at the satellite - ergo, the satellite must be UP THERE. b) some of us in Texas could see it with our own eyes when the shuttle broke up during re-entry. Unlike every UFO sighting ever - plenty of videotape exists. (BTW, why do these things always have to happen in TEXAS?) c) London has plenty of evidence that Doctor von Braun's FIRST rockets really did fly. As the lady in the Berlin cocktail party said to him - "Dr. von Braun, your rocket flew very well today?" He replied - "Yes, it is just too bad though - that it came down on the wrong planet". The little man with the mustache is said to have overheard and put the Doctor under house arrest for about a year for this little joke... For me - the most obvious thing about these "U.S. Government conspiricy" theories (Roswell, saucer parts in Area 51, faked the Moon Landing) is simply this: Do you REALLY believe that the U.S. Government could EFFECTIVELY keep such secrets over such an amount of time? Jeez - the tabloid press would pay over 100K for a picture of Jessica Simpson flashing Tony Romo; can you imagine the motivation they would have to uncover such a thing as a UFO or a Moon coverup?
I think you are mis-understanding me, let me clarify. I believe hole heartedly that we have many times gone into space and flew many successful missions. My point is the actual landing on the moon.
If you want to hear crazy, listen to some of the drivel coming out of Richard C. Hoagland. He's convinced that there are ancient ruins (made of glass no less) on the Moon and Mars that would upset the public if revealed. This is his explanation of why NASA hasn't returned.
So should I think you are saying that they DID launch the Saturn V, but then just sort of circled around the Earth for a while and then came back down? After all, if I remember right back in the 60s that the launches were as big a tail-gate block party as NASCAR or WACO. hole-heartedly, YF James
There's no real way to know for sure short of re-visiting the landing sites. I remember reading that in a purge of old files, the original plans for the Saturn V were thrown out. I believe that some of the original 70mm film shot by the astronauts has come up missing. If either of these are true it speaks for incompetence on a historic scale.
Yes, that seems to be the consensus among the unbelievers. I remember the launches back in the 60's as well. The good old days!
Also, I did not intend for this thread to be a war or a fight. Just some witty banter on the subject.
OK, then - just for the sake of witty banter; Doesn't it seem like a terrible shame that they would waste all that rocket fuel, make orbit, and not even light the little pop-bottle jobbie that it would then take to boost the capsule on out to moon trajectory? For example, what would be the motive for that? - to avoid the spectacle of failure? I would be every bit as scared or more-so, to light the main Saturn V booster in the first place - think of the mess that could have made of Cape Canaveral if it malfunctioned (like the Russians did with their Soyuz Moon booster)... Would you like to have another conspiricy theory to take the place of this (just in case you are kind of giving up on it)? I have heard that the Cowboys have traded for PacMan Jones. I think it is part of a vast conspiricy to punish Dallas for hosting the events on the grassy knoll...
Kenco -- It's not like they tried to hide all the evidence after the visits. Why don't you do some internet searching to see if you can find more recent images of evidence (the LEM bottom half, footprints, flags, etc.) on the Moon's surface -- or will you only be convinced when you go to the Moon yourself
The only one I disagree with is Elvis being dead. He isn't dead or at least he wasn't 1 year ago . I saw him at a greasy spoon in Gulfport, MS on Highway 49. He is very thin now but still has the sideburns big beltbuckle 70's style clothes and big sunglasses, oh I forgot to add his hair is jet black
LoL! You guy's are not playing fair, your starting to gang up on me! 91tr, I have just been looking at youtube, and its very interesting, I am sure you would have to agree. I enjoy looking at all sides of a story, but in this case I have not had enough time to draw a conclusion. At first glance I would have to say that we did not land on the moon, given the video's that are showing up on youtube. It is very hard to find any videos that are positive about the landings being real.
Fascinating. So where did he go when he "left the building"? Back to the double-wide government trailer he shares with Salman Rushdie and Anne-Margret? I assume that you alerted Priscilla...
