Still one of the most under rated cars. Ferrari built this model and in my opinion has as much collectable history as almost any non-race built car ever made by Ferrari. Built to commemorate the relationship of 50 years with design house Pininfarina this model was a derivitive of the 550 Maranello for 2001. At the time one of the finest 12 cylinder cars built by Ferrari the 550 Maranello is finally starting to be recognized for all of its fine attributes. However to go one step further Pininfarina took a 550 Maranello and chopped off the top making it a full time Roadster. They reclined the windshield angle by an additional 10 degrees and reinforced the frameless windshield surround for safety. They removed the body from the front door jams back and replaced it with a redesigned fiberglass rear. They added a modification or two to the interior like Alcantera dash, carbon fiber accents and carbon fiber sport racing seats. Building just 448 of these models worldwide and 117 for the USA market makes this car a real significant part of Ferrari History. stunning. love the 550 barch's. yellow calipers would br a nice touch though.

Whart's former black/black 550 Barch is my favorite.

I agree-- one of the most beautiful modern Ferraris!

Yours (I assume?) is much nicer than the yellow one I sat in and examined up close, as that car had a tan interior, including dash and steering wheel. The yellow with black interior works much better, IMO.

I just wish I fit better! And that I didn't live in a rainy climate...

A stunning machine, no doubt about it. As is the case most often with Ferrari, the 448 number is official but not correct - more were built with a consensus of a maximum of 470 in total. Michael Sheehan claims to know at least 3 cars with number #2 of 448, I think...

I've admired a black one wtih cuoio interior at a Ferrari Club Netherlands meeting last weekend - a most impressive car. I loved the one in the Victory by Design DVD as well. Stunning.

Thanks all...Any additional pics of the Azzuro California car? I love that color.
By the way your correct the yellow car does have 575 headlights done correctly with Zenon electricals as well. I like it better that way. Jon in Delaware

You don't by any chance live outside of Philadelphia do you Kuzi? I recall a group of Ferraris going to Algar to pick up a Barchetta - the convoy I believe included an F40.

I live just outside of Seattle.

I got a chance to drive my friends Barchetta............and what a great car. I might have to take a closer look at them. The "limited" run is just a bonus.

Wilmington area is its home town!!
Thanks for the compliments on the 575 headlights. I really do think it makes the car better looking. I have the originals in a box for ...whenever.

Black also hides the "A" pillar strengthening bodywork that rises up from the base of the pillar.

Too bad Herr Prof sold it a while back...

Dear turbos7903, if the 550 maranello coupe was a stunning car, the barchetta is one of the most sexiest Ferrari's of the Nineties!!! Great car! I'm envious! ;) However I think you should paint those red calipers in yellow! ;)

Not a big fan of any of the aftermarket "hard" tops........nor the OEM top it comes with. But not a problem since the Barchetta is not coming out other then in nice weather. Contrary to popular belief we do get a few of those days a year :)
