Speed Racer is opening very soon and will be playing at the IMAX theatre in Lauderdale -- at the Museum of Discovery and Science. I imagine that I am not the only one who is eagerly anticipating the opening of the movie. Thought we might go as a group. Chime in if you are interested. Scottie
I plan on going on May 9th, which is the opening day. I'm playing hookie, and offering to let my kids do the same if they want to go. They aren't too excited about the movie, but I am! BT
Called about doing a bulk ticket purchase and they told me that they decided NOT to run Speed Racer! The only other IMAX theatre in the area is at City Place and that one is a scam - it isn't on the big 4 story screen and doesn't have the big 15,000 stereo. The one time I went there, I felt ripped off - may as well see it on a "normal" screen. Aside from that, the only real IMAX theaters are in Orlando, Tampa, and Caper Canaveral. I did have another Idea. Maybe we could talk Muvico in Boca into letting us do a private party upstairs in one of their theaters. I suppose it depends on how many people want to come. Time is of the essence, so give me a count and I will run over there to talk to a manager. Scottie
As long as it's in the evening, I am "IN".............. And, yes, this movie does look like garbage, but if we can get a group to go it will still be fun!!!
Ok, so there's another car trying to pass you on the left, you're in the middle of a left hand turn, and you're looking right??? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Looks like the consensus is for Friday evening. Do we want the 7:00 or 10:00 show? We can also have dinner upstairs (the restaurant is excellent) and I can probably arrange a private seating area. I don't think that we have enough interested people to take over part of the theatre - unless things change drastically this week, but I will see what I can do about picking up tickets together, upstairs - if that is cool with everyone. It is 21 and over - but I didn't think, from the responses, that anyone was planning on joining us with their children (let me know if I am wrong). Tickets are a bit more expensive $20 - but include free popcorn and free valet. The big benefit is that upstairs is assigned seating. I need to figure this out ASAP so that I can get the arrangements made. Thanks, Scottie
I'm planning on going with my daughter(s). They would be 11 and 14. I would not expect a group to change venues / plans based on us. My kids may flake out last minute anyways. Duane, maybe you and your daughter would like to meet us (and my brother with his son) somewhere norther? If I am going with one or more of my kids we would probably go for an earlier show around 7-8ish. BT
I'm in for whatever you decide man. If there isn't a lot of interest then I'll just head there with ya! As long as I can park the F car out front or park it myself next to nothing I'm all set. BTW appreciate you organizing everything! .m
Elaine and I are in for the 7:00pm show if that works for everyone. Of course no valet parking is required.
