If its okay I'd like to stick my head in the noose. The driving in this video is bad to awful. Neither of these guys could hit their marks on the turns if they were painted on their foreheads. It is impossible to decide which is the better car under these circumstances. In effect making this thread pretty pointless.
In regards to Ferrari people buying Porches. Its a trade off. I've owned 3 fcars and more than a few porches. Sometimes seperatly, sometimes together. THe porsche was always my daily driver/ my wife. While the ferrari was always for the weekends/ my mistress. There was never a time with my wife when I was not thinking about my mistress. But on the other hand I never worried about where I parked my wife and whether she would still be there in the morning or how much money I would have to spend on her. Worrying about your mistress on a daily basis gets real old after a while. Sometimes it just feels good to let the mistress go and enjoy what the wife has to offer.

Here is the fun piece for me, judging by the pink sweater and the way the steering wheel was being held, that WOMAN driving the P car was very good comparatively speaking. Admittedly just stirring the pot here. :):):) I just can't see me having on a pink sweater at the track. :)

Ummm guys, I have owned many a Ferrari and presently have a 06 430 spider F1. I have owned many a Porsche Turbo, the latest being a 05 Cab, and last but not least I have a 06 SLR. If I were to go on a long road trip where I need comfort room and a blast to drive, I would pick the Porsche every time. Sorry. The F car is great for short hauls as it lacks room and social amenities like cruise control. The SLR has the room but is downright brutal on US roads on your body.

StefF430 didnt mean that the video was a F430, he wrote that to the lap times that the "intouch1" showed....

We have 3 Ferrari's and 1 Porsche in our garage, both are great cars.

I have to admit that the 997GT3 and the RS are so f*****g awesome.... BUT too far from a Scuderia. Scuderia is a few blocks in front.

For me Porsche will never be a Ferrari... NEVER.

I feel like he was responding to the track times that were comparing an F430 to a GT3, not the clip.

What a stupid video, the GT3 is braking late and oversteered quite a few times to keep up with that conservatively driven Scud.

Theres even a best motoring video from Japan where the CS beats a 996 GT3.

The Pcar is a great car but nothing close to being as special as the Fcar.

Truth is that the driver does make all the difference. Just compare the HHR, for example. A 997GT3 RS is capable of doing a 2.00 time there. A novice driver might do 2.08, thus is typically 8s slower than a professional driver.

Now, if you consider that the all new GT2 might be 3s quicker than the GT3 RS on this track you can compare 8s attributable to the driver to 3s attributable to the car. You see my point? The driver makes a much bigger difference than the car. That's why I would not give to much attention to the above video.

Oh look, the GT3 got its ass whooped by a Nissan. So if you want an exotic that turns heads, get the Scuderia, if you want a monster track capable car, get a GT-R.

I have a GTR on order. It will spank your GT3 and it weighs about a 1000 pounds more and costs about 55k less. More than any other brand, the GTR is making Porsche less relevant. Porsches makes great cars (ugly cars but great) but they aren't pretty, they aren't exclusive, they aren't focused (Panamera, Cayenne), they aren't full of soul, and they aren't luxurious.

As an aspirational brand, Porsche is like Coach: achievable luxury for the masses. As my friend would say, you're a "mini-baller".

Finally, if it is just about speed, then really, what is the logic in buying a Porsche at all when you can get a Z06 or a GTR?

Anyhow, I respect Porsches and I respect other people's preferences. I posted the above just to make a point. The 996 GT3 RS and the CS ran the exact same times with the exact same driver on the Top Gear track. And of course, they picked the CS as the better car.

i find it extremely entertaining that until now almost nobody understood what my thread was all about......
i am certain that its not about being able to understand....rather not wanting to understand.

as to f vs p.......some people simply prefer to wear the label on the inside rather than out...

Ok~ so if you don't need to turn head, but want the faster track car...... then buy the GT-R and save yourself $50k+. Like JChoice mentioned above, I don't see the point of the Porsch 911, Turbo, C4, GT3, after the GT-R is released. GT2 still has a chance on the track but I am pretty sure the GT-R V-Spec will destroy the GT2.

So back to the point - if the GT3 is better than F430 on the track, thus making it a better car~ then the GT-R is a way better car than the GT3 for way less money. Though if I had the choice I would pick the 360CS all day over any of these.

here's what you can do today....head over to wikipedia and write an explanation about 'mini baller'.....might help you shed some steam....or maybe change the colour of your car.....red is known to be an aggresive colour

Well, here's my take: you think that this thread is about the P car not getting its due and/or the F car being over-rated and you are making this point using a video that shows driver's of unknown skill in wet conditions.

In actuality and in all seriousness, this thread is about you taking time out of your life to validate your self-worth.

You have a GT3 and I think they are great cars. You made a wise purchase decision. The GT3 can generate some great lap times. The Ferrari certainly isn't the car to choose if you're looking for value. It's a mix of performance, exclusivity, looks, the brand, the heritage, and the "look at me, I'm rich" factor.

    OK, now are you happy?

.....you imply that i have a GT3., which i don't.....I have a 997 Turbo and my 997 GT2 is waiting in the container at the harbour and will be delivered within a few days.

the Scud is an amazing car and I can't wait to take Tarek's for a spin......nevertheless I was simply astounded as to how well the GT3 was able to hang on to the scuderia's pace.

By definition then it should have been clear for all to understand that between the GT3 and Scuderia I think that the Scud is certainly the more capable car.

I think this is conclusive, a VW camper van is quicker than a GT3. It's on video, it must be so. :D

As anyone that regularly drives on track will know, it's all down to skill and experience when it comes to a quick lap. The vid proves nothing, other than the OP can't recognise that the Scud is losing out due to poorer braking and little knowledge of what an apex is. The 430S certainly pulls away easily once out the corner but any fool can mash the gas.

Anyway, love GT3's and had two. Far more rewarding/fun car to drive than a GT2 hence why you can pick up a £130k 996GT2 for £50k and a £90k 996 GT3 RS costs £60k.
