    Pete,

    You completely miss my point.

My point is that the folks here would be coming up with just as much criticism of Schumacher once he proved competitive as they are against Hamilton here. Hamilton's only crime is that he is not driving a Ferrari. If he were, then some folks around here would be nominating him for sainthood.

Might I remind you of the criticism Schumacher faced by the Tifosi in 1996 when he signed for the team?

Yes...and? Hamilton took how many POLE POSITIONS last season on tracks he never saw before?

And, by the way, De Cesaris very nearly won that Spa race in 1991, after qualifying 11th (Schumacher's 7th is hardly "many places" further up the grid).

I agree with you to a point Ted, but can he deliver WDCs and WCCs? And it doesn't appear that will happen this season.

Yes but Schumacher was already a two time champ when he signed for Ferrari. People didn't like that Alesi and Berger had to make way for MS when they had shown so much loyalty to the team, just as the car was starting to come around.

LH won poles on 4 circuits he never saw before. The other two he had competed in GP2 (silverstone, Hungary). Fuji doesn't really count either, no one had been there before. A very impressive accomplishment by any measure. It's funny however, how he was always be behind in Q2 but always seemed to be able to get in that golden lap at the right time in Q3 and beat Alonso.........

The only times that count are Q3. The only goal of Q2 is to get to Q3.

by the way, Senna also used to be able to pull laps out of his hat when he needed to.

True, but it was a different format back then. It's interesting how LH always managed to get the extra lap FA needed, equal treatment my heiny..;)

Senna would also manage to find this time without looking like he was trying very hard. He looked so slow most of the time when he was on a hot lap that you just didn't believe what the timers were saying. A rare talent indeed.

It seems that many here saw a undeserving kid on a cheating team that almost lucked into a WDC except for a bunch of stupid mistakes.

I saw the most awesome out-of-the-blocks start for any rookie in F1 history.

    +1

I feel bad, because a statement like that shows that he has to lower the expectations of him. I mean, I'm not going to cry a river for a kid making millions, but when the public starts to express that you're NOT what they thought as far as performance, and they start to get negative and give up on you, it must be stressful.

I'm not sure why Hamilton has to tell everyone he's not Superman, when obviously hes a robot. It's common knowledge.
