Sorry, coach, but there were NO Ferrari race cars on the premises at all, with the exception of David Scott's 348, of course. Several of Historic Grand Prix's Ferraris were in Monaco for their Historic Grand Prix next week, and Bud Moeller's 312 T5 was having its engine rebuilt, which is why he was in the Ensign.

For our Ferraris in the corral, go to http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=194926.

I was driving the green Tyrrell with Benetton livery. Placed second on Saturday. Had engine problems on Sunday and did not finish the race. I have owned that car for a little over a year. Bought it from Jim Busby in California. Was originally driven by Michele Alboreto who drove for Ferrari F1 team later. I have some video of the Saturday race from my in car camera.

I think I speak for all race fans, thank you for bringing out such a rare and valuable car. That's why we came, to see the show. I can only imagine what it is like. Tell us more and please link the video here.

Thank you, Paul! I have to admit I'm old enough to remember when that car ran originally. Considering that that car (or its mate) scored the last normally-aspirated GP victory before the turbos took over entirely, as well as Tyrrell's last GP victory, it is quite a historic machine. Hopefully you and your organization can return next year and, without the diversion of Monaco, bring twice as many cars.

These were obviously all taken from the turn 10 complex, just a stone's throw away from our corral.

It's mind-boggling to consider just how recently the Audi R8 was state-of-the-art, and now it's "historic", a rolling museum piece.

And dig the crazy rear wing on the green Porsche in the 6th photo - makes the car look like a scorpion!

I posted several laps of video from the Saturday race. Quality is not as good as the original as I had to compress it to post on YouTube. If you are interested the link is below.

Paul, that is just totally awesome! I encourage everyone to view this. What was your top speed on this track? Also, under the bridge on the last turn, I thought I saw cars almost come off the ground. It sounds like your wheels nearly were spinning. Is there a bump there?

Here are the last of my Friday pics. By the time the F1 cars came out - after 5 PM - the sun angle had gotten so low that I crossed over the bridge and took these from the other side. I don't know who the Hill driver was signalling to in the last photo, or maybe he was just saying "Th-th-th-that's all, folks!" :D

Top speed on the back straight was a little over 170 mph. Yes the cars were almost getting airborne under the bridge. There is not a lot of speed at that point of the trace to give much downforce and it is a rather sharp uphill and then downhill.

Thanks, Paul! Reminded me of "Grand Prix" or maybe "Lap of the Gods". The sound was particularly exciting.

The siginal in the last photo indicates that he is going into the pit lane. This signals to anyone following that he is slowing down and pitting.

    Great pics guys!
I was at the Mitty as well. I loved seeing the HGP F1 cars there, Nothing like the sight and sound of those F1 cars screaming through the "esses"!!

The "Mitty" is a great event. Great cars, great track & great people! I've been going the last couple years and will definately be back in 09.

I ran the Champ Car in Green / Red Tecate livery featured in one of the pics above

Damned fast, one of my favorite for the weekend. What was your top speed on the back stretch? You guys really push those cars, you have to respect that....

My data showed 184-185 mph on the back straight.

    Paul,
Awesome in car footage! Way to dog Hamish in his Williams, you were right on him.

Here are the first of my Sunday photos. I understand that the first car (#99) was being driven by the ageless one, Elliott Forbes-Robinson. That guy's been racing about as long as I've been a racing fan, and that's a pretty long time!

I decided to watch the rest of the racing from the far end of the course, so I drove to Spectator Hill. First came the debut race for historic Grand Prix motorcycles, followed by their automotive counterparts. The first four photos of the cars are from the pre-race warmup (during which the Hill broke, leaving 6 starters).
