so i guess i'm one of the lucky one's with pretty good A/C, never tried the MAX setting until today. when i switched to the "max" setting, little or no cool air comes out. hmmmmm. i haven't started to troubleshoot yet since it just happened this morning. is the max setting on a different fuse or relay? fan still runs. haven't checked the compressor with max setting on versus off....

    any ideas?

did it do it right away or did it take a little while before it stopped blowing cold?

evaporator coil may be frozen blocking the air flow.

I was thinking that but it usually takes a little while, not just right away...

thanks for the replies. to be more specific, i used the A/C yesterday on a sunny 75 degree day. i had the fan on a low setting and the A/C on the regular setting. i ran it for about 5 minutes, and as usual, it blew reasonably cold air. i tried this on different fan settings, still ok.

then i switched to MAX, and within seconds, the air warmed to ambient temperatures. switched fan low to high, same thing. switched back to regular A/C setting, and within seconds it went back to cool air.

what is the actual difference on MAX? something internal to the compressor?
