Hey, I'll keep this short and sweet, and just a FYI this is going on other forums as well
This will sound blunt but there is no other way to put it. I want to able to afford a Ferrari in the future, so simply put, what do you all do for a living? Let me know, It is greatly appreciated. I understand this is the world wide web and you may not want everybody knowing what you do feel free to email me. I would actually prefer a email. ([email protected]) I am taking everything to heart, I promise.

Before anybody says anything, I understand A LOT of it has do with lifestyle choices, you don't splurge on everything else hence you are able to afford a Ferrari. As well as it isn't always necessarily how much you make but what you do with it. But hell, it's a Ferrari you must be doing something right.

Help me out, I can't decide what career path to go with. Nothing is out of the question, I don't think negatively. I can do anything I want no matter WHAT my family or other people thinks I am capable of doing. I did not come from a necessarily wealthy family but my Dad is paying for my college, so I essentially have it made, all I have to do is take care of business. (Which it is truly amazing how many kids are given opportunities like this and flunk out.)

    So....

    1. What is your job?

    2. Would you do it again or pick a different career path?

Any suggestions or other thoughts for a mature 17 year old that is listening, really listening?

    Thanks.

Btw, as you all can see I posted this at 2:30am. I have been killing my self lately researching the top 10 paying jobs, best job (environment wise), etc. And I just can't stand it, so I want to ask people who already have it made! Not read another article!

Welcome. Like you, my goal was always to own a Ferrari, i wanted to complete this goal by the time i was 30, in reality i knew it would probably be more like 40, but i had the goal and the vision. I purchased my first Ferrari at 26, i did not owe a cent on it. It is one of the best things i have ever done, it is all worth it, trust me.

My advise to you, if your only source of income is your job this will likely take a long time to gather the spare $ for a Ferrari purchase, and also it will be hard to pay the money over due to this being an emotional purchase, there will always be other things that need the money more. What you need to do is find a job that you enjoy, one you can work at with little stress, use this to be the vehicle for your own venture, take the spare cash that most young guys waste on drink, cafe lunches and all other unnecessary (this adds up real fast!) and put that money to work for you, buy and sell, buy and sell, look for the opportunities that everyone else walks past. The more you do this the easier it will become, also you are in a great position to start this project, at this stage if it all goes wrong you can recover many times over. This is what i did, i started with a $1000 car that was financed and now i play with residential property. Learn from those who have success, there are plenty of nice people who will share there experiences, start to hang out with these sort of people, you will soon see a trend.

Remember that your job should not be your only source of income, and eventually it should not be your primary source of income.

    Good luck.

Take your college fund ($30-40K/yr X 4 = $120K) and buy the Ferrari. Then marry into money and you've got it. I'm a retired pimp.

But seriously. Only you can decided what you want/should do. Basically you should do what you want. Money will come. And very few will give you a real answer on this site.

Search the forum, you'll see this question gets asked 1-2 times a month, and responses like Im a gay porn star are numerous.

I'll try and give you a little serious advice, since you are a "mature and listening 17 year old."

Stop ****ing worrying about how to make money in life to buy a Ferrari.
This is NOT what life is about, even remotely.
A Ferrari is a car, a nice one albeit, but a car nonetheless.

Here is my recipe for the best chance for a rewarding life. Happiness comes first, the money may, or may not follow. But if you are happy you won't care about the money. If you are miserable the money will never make you happy.

Here is what you should do:

    1. Go to the best college you can get into.
    2. Double major, one in the sciences, the other in the arts/humanities.
    3. Don't try to "get through" college quickly, savor it like a fine wine for as long as you can.
    4. Pick subjects that genuinely interest you no matter how trivial their possible "market potential" in the future may be.
    5. Study hard, very hard.
    6. Immerse yourself in everything college has to offer, you never know what area you may explore next.
    7. Get the best grades you can, pursue the most research (either bench or in the field)/extra curricular pursuits you can.
    8. Get to know a couple very well respected professor mentors that can help guide your into appropriate careers.
8.5 Enjoy the social aspects of college, but don't let that get the way of your real objective there...to learn.
    9. Graduate with honors, and hopefully your name on a publication--this is important.
    10. Get a job, at the bottom. You will not be entitled, you will not start at the top.
    11. Work very very hard, work your way up.
    12. Always take every opportunity to accept extra projects, accept risks. Attack work with ferocity. Do what your compatriots are afraid to do. If there are opportunities to get up in front of people and speak/present, do so at every opportunity.
    13. Then when you have made an impression.....go back to school.
    14. Get an MBA, MS, PhD, MD, JD depending on what you think you will love to do now that you have some real world experience.
14.5 Go to the very best graduate school you can get into, this is very very important.
    15. Attack graduate school with ferocity too...this is where the difference will be for the rest of your life...everything else was a prelude to this.
    16. Finish your "formal" education and launch into your career.
    17. Work harder than you ever did before.
    18. Take risks, do what others won't, get your face and name in front of as many people as you can, whenever you can.
    19. Live below your means, and save every extra penny you make in a solid index mutual fund. I recommend Vanguard LifeStrategy Growth as a good example.
    20. Do NOT go buy a Ferrari. See #19.
    21. Share your life with someone you love. Combine your assets. Seek to maximize mutual happiness, never one to the exclusion of the other.
    22. When you have done ALL of this..........

Pour yourself a very nice expensive glass of wine, sit back and smile with satisfaction upon your life.....and start shopping for the "right" Ferrari for you. Your spouse will then let you go buy it. If you have kids they will be ecstatic with Dad's purchase....your neighbors will smile and congratulate you....but secretly wish you would move away or get cancer.

    Any questions?

Breakx, that could be one of your problems later on down the road. It doesn't sound like you're hungry enough to do what it takes to buy a car that cost as much as a decent home.
Ever wonder how a baby born to a crackhead mother with an absent father can go on to make 8 figures in a year?....AMBITION. I like to use the inner city rapper analogy to prove a point.

If you want it bad enough, you'll MAKE it happen.
