Exclusively. That is one of the ways they save so much weight in that car vs. the regular 911 Turbo. James Austin, TX
Looks like your pics caused quite a stir internationally http://www.gulfgt.com/forum/showthread.php?t=29915
Very nice Sherif, but cant help thinking Porsche have lost their way since air cooled You need a nice Stradale Image Unavailable, Please Login
wrap her up and bring her with you next time....promise i will accept her as a gesture of generosity from your side just make sure you arrange for enough time to get her off the belt and to the other terminal
The GT2's nose has also much less ground clearance than the Scud. The GT2 measures 10cm from the ground, the Scud 13-15cm (underside of bumper sloped) and I also have the skidplates mounted. That's why getting on the flatbed with the Scud is easier.
Carrera S is a lovely car. surely not the fastest but more than enough to have fun with. I had a 997 S when they first came out and then went for a 997 S convertible. Enjoyed every minute of them. I surely would advise you to go with the facelifted model coming onto the market in september. 380hp and 7 gear double clutch transmission.
I understand your recommendation, but I am a racer (so a convertible just isn't in my plans). I have a couple of early Porsche 911's, and I need a 997S for severe track duty. One of the old Porsches: Image Unavailable, Please Login
gorgeous car. i love the carrera's and would love to have an 84-89 carrera 3.2 but unfortunately we have none in the country and can't import cars that are not model of the import year.
Beautiful cars, your GT2 reminds me of my GT3RS interior - the carbon accents are similar to mine and are very nice. I wish I had your seats. Enjoy!
When in that narrow parking spot, did you have to climb into /out of the GT2 through the windows? lol
GT2 is very well engineered. I am still in the issue of a GT2, Gallardo LP or 430Scud ... The other issue is that it will have to be bought in the states, unless i fly back to PT just to drive it. Good choice in P-cars - I am still in the 993 realm with the Turbo. The aircooled is hard to detach to. cheers
I also prefer the 996 over the 997 in the looks department. I never liked the way the front of the 993 looked, so my distaste for the 997 front makes sense. To the original poster, are there many differences between your two cars such that you need to keep both? I'm a PCAR fan, but variety is the spice of life. Nice cars.
Thanks for your kind comments. I wish you would state your first name (I don't think it is polite to address you as intouch1 ). The car is an original Gemini Blue 1973 small bumper long wheel base 1973 Porsche 911. It has a 2.7L Porsche 911 S engine and PMO 40 carbs with custom billet air filter tops. It weighs in at 2280 pounds (not sure of the Km ). Nonetheless, I noticed that you have an old Mustang. I also own an old Mustang that I race in vintage racing. However, my car has the original period correct engine and drivetrain (it's required here). Congratulations on your perfect selection of fine automobiles. I wish you well. Very nice one you have... Back the late 70s i had a 911 targaS of '73 with the same engine you speak of.. but you have maintained yours very sharply.. congratulations. cheers
Very interesting taste you have i must say... That fried egg headlight of the pre facelift 996 looks awful compared to the classic 993. The 993 is a design of perfection simply because it follows its roots directly, whilst modernizing to the appropiate degree - the 996 blow things out of proportion in a way.. I think the 997 should have been what the 996 looked like. Best looking 996 is the C4s
Couldn't have said it better, and i even agree with you that the best looking 996 would be the C4S. Everyone has different tastes and everything is valid.I could live with the 996 Turbo or C4S exterior, but not with the interior.I believe that 996 are one of the worst mistakes of Porsche. It has come to the point that the 993 is worth more than the 996.That series created controversy by having the cheaper Boxter like headlights, end of air cooled and to top it off problems in the engine (earlier models).Interesting 996 in Venezuela are better regarded than the 993.Looks sell, and in this case people believe the previous is a much better ride than the later, just because its more modern looking. So conclusion 993 > 996.. err no.Conclusion:Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
+1 The 996 headlights are so ugly. Glad to see that Porsche found the way back to the old styling with its successor. If you have a timeless design like the 911, keep it or change it radically, but DON'T change major styling clues.
Man, I just love the 996 fried egg headlights. The 997 front end and headlights look like VW Bug, take notice. I don't want to get in a pissing match, just sharing my opinions like everyone else. BTW, I own a 996 C4S. (Boxster as well)
I am also a fan of the 1992-1993 Porsche 964 RS America. The 964 series were made in 1990-1994 and preceded the Porsche 993 which was only produced for three model years (1995-1997). But I can't think of a Porsche 911 that I don't like (1965-current). Each have their strengths. The 964 RSA: http://www.rsamerica.net/
