IMHO this is a clear case of Automotive Injustice. If I'm not mistaken, the convertible handbook clearly states that, "when motoring with the convertible roof stowed, all windows must be in the down position." Thusly, any window up or partially up is a violation of the code. Besides, it looks goofy to have windows up while the top is down.

Did Emily Post or Gloria Vanderbilt write the "Convertible Handbook?" Or could you otherwise point us to a
    reference for that book.....?

Seems that the only possible case of automotive injustice with a convertible would be to never take the
    top down.

The one hard and fast rule with convertibles: Always ALWAYS store the car with the top up or truly
funky things happen to your canvas, let alone Italian convertibles. When installing a new convertible top, leave the top in the up position for at least two weeks to properly stretch the canvas.

My thoughts exactly. With all of the things in life to worry about, the fact that you and your wife are out enjoying the car is reason to smile. Life's too short to fuss about such petty stuff...

Both up or both down ... but one up and one down? Come on!!! I can't live with the assymetry.

Ha, I did not know you went to HS with me. Small world.

That style of motoring still bugs me. I saw 5 Indy 500 pace car Vettes on the interstate this weekend, probably rolling to Bowling Green. ALL 5 had the windows up, top down thing going. I thought, how quaint, probably VIP's who've never been in a sports car before.

At last. A thread on an important matter. ;)
Side curtains should be left in the garage.
Saw an MGB with the hard top still on yesterday. Hope he had a good reason.

Frankly unless it's raining outside, the top should always be down and windows down as well. I am sure most of us have another car to drive if weather is less than optimal. I get irritated when I see convertibles with top up and windows close on PCH on a perfectly fine day. SRLY, why even bother buying a convertible if you won't use it?

Wait a minute! This all started with a 430. Honestly, do you even get wind buffeted tucked way down in there? In my 59 or MG you stick above the door from the chest up, but in a 430 even adults look like little kids, barely headtops showing. Can't be the wind, I think your wife is just messin with ya.

I rented a vette convertible in Fl with one of those taking GPS dealios. Couldn't hear a freaking thing with the top and the windows down. Rolling them up did help.

I drive with the tops down and windows up on my cars all the time. I don't like getting wind blown on my way to work.
