The Wings closed it out in fine fashion last night. I personally think they will beat the Penguins in 6. Predictions?
I have both of my detroit teams (pistons and wings) winning in 5 on the next two series. Penguins don't even know what will hit them, eastern conference is much weaker than western, Dallas would beat up on the pengs too.
Pens have depth and talent on their side. Detroit has the fact that good bit of the Pens depth and talent can't buy a beer, yet. Should be fun to watch. Wonder if Franzen'll be back. Don't think Pittsburgh can be beaten four times in seven tries, though.
Its gonna be a rough series..... If Crosby and Malkin can keep their cool and not get sucked into retaliatory penalties I think the Pens have a good chance. Also they need the experiance of Roberts back in the line up even if just for a few shifts a game. Only soft spot I can see is Gill on defence...........he played great against the Flyers but the speed of the Wings might be a problem for him. I'd give the Pens the advantage in goal as well..... Regardless, its going to be a great series and both rinks are within 2 hrs of my house
I say Wings in 7 games. It will be a tough series. I think Detroit will lose 1 of the first 2 games at home. I think Frazen will be back. His headaches have gone away. Now he just needs to start practicing. I think Pittsburgh will win the cup next year if they can somehow sign Hossa.
Wings in four. I will be at game #1, cheering for my Red Wings to win their 11th Cup and become the first team to win both the President's Trophy and the Cup in the same season. NAK.
Wings in 6. BTW, the Wings won both the Presidents' Trophy and the Stanley Cup in the 2001-2002 season. GO WINGS!
And, the season before--in 2000-2001, the Colorado Avalanche also won both awards. It is sort of a "misnomer" in N.H.L. award-giving. During the 1950's--about the time I began watching Red Wing hockey, Detroit won seven consecutive league championships (but the "President's Trophy" hadn't been created yet). And, if my memory is accurate, they won three Cups during this run, while Montreal won the other four (a tale of two cities when it came to N.H.L. hockey). Yet, no one really cares about the P.T. or league championship. The focus is on the S.C., and "Eleven", here we come. NAK.
NO it was just the worst thing walking out of that place I was hoping for a win, but they got it done over there Wings in 5 losing game 3
I'm dying here...I have to work in the morning. Probably won't fall asleep till 2 no matter who wins. Why do the Wings look better off the power play than on it?
stupid boneheaded penalty cost them the game. I gotta say that if fleury can play like that next game the wings are gonna be in trouble. One hell of a game even if it didn't turn out how I wanted it to.
that was a hell of a game, but the previous two penalties detroit pulled shouldn't be called in an nhl game, there's no way to stop that kind of movement. i take it everyone else heard those boo's at the end of the game, i'd be a lil pissed also if my team took the game into triple overtime and lost it
the wings offense dominated the game last night and if it weren't for the heroics of MA Fleury that game would have been 10 to 3. Like I said earlier the wings looked like they were on the power play all night. It was absolute domination of the attack and neutral zone. However, if Fluery plays tomorrow like he did last night the wings need to come up with a new strategy.
Hell of a game last night!!!!! WOW!!! is all I can say. I crashed out at the beginning of the 3rd OT, but my friend who is a huge Penguins fan kept texting me. He is very excited for tomorrows game!!
I don't know about that, Darth.... yeah Detroit is definitely the stronger team, but P-burgh has had some serious luck (ie 34 seconds from their season being over, and they scored to tie it up...). For Detroit to win, they are going to have to dominate AND dominate for the entire game!! If P-Burgh is given even the slightest opportunity, they seem to be able to capitalize on it. We'll see tomorrow night with game 6 in P-Burgh!!!
