Those of you who plan to be cremated:

What are you going to do with your ashes?

My wife and I both want our ashes spread in the estuaries near our beach house. Give the crabs and shrimp some potassium and phosphorous; we're eaten enough of them, time to return the favor!

Dad wanted his driven around in the 348 as that was the closest he ever would get to fitting in one. He was 6'9".

Why cremate if you are gonna be fed to the crabs?

Just bury the ashes for me, doesn't really matter.

Prior to deciding to give my body to science, I had instructed all my friends
to take the ashes to the Texas Motorplex drag strip near Dallas, spread them
in the burnout pit, and do a major smokey burnout through them.

As Darth would say, if I was cremated, my body would burn for a week!

I'm hoping that I will freeze on a glacier somewhere while hunting for woolly mammoths so that I can be thawed out and thus reanimated 12000 years in the future.

What about mixing it with the morning cereal, and sneaking it to your kids? That way you will always be with them... ;)

Well, once it eventually goes out, I'd opt to have them snorted by Jimmy Page but if he declines, Bury my ashes at wounded knee.... ;)

I am a rep for lifegems. I am not too sure how old that article is but they now would rather gather the carbon from hair specimens as opposed to 'ashes'...you all know that these really aren't ashes...right?

Being a funeral director I have a pretty intimate knowledge of the cremation process and I have decided that its not right for me. It seems irreverent to me in some way. I think I want to be entombed in a mausoleum somewhere. That being said I would never try to talk someone out cremation. Its a very personal decision.

About five years ago, my buddy Mike where I live and owns a small flying - instruction business, advertised to 'Spread your ashes over the Mother Lode'. He got his first customer, the ashes on Tony. Tony's frail 91 year old wife went up for the ride in a Cessna 172. At altitide (About 5K feet over Lake Don Pedro), Mike told the lady to pop the window, open the cap on the urn and dump the ashes out the window. When she did that, 99% of 'Dusty Tony' went BACK INTO the plane's cabin! She was in tears until they landed and Mike spend about four hours cleaning Tony out of his plane and it's instruments:D..............That was his last such business idea!

There was an episode of Nip/Tuck that had this as a plot point. Is it common?

2 yrs. ago my Aunt in Texas passed away. Last Fall my Uncle Smitty shows up. He had Aunt Judy in a can on the front seat. He was driving her around the country to all the places that meant something to her. He wanted directions to her old school and the family farm where she grew up. It was a fancy can.

Last Nov my elderly Aunt died. Weighed about 85#. I had to pick up her ashes at the funeral home. I was very suprised at how heavy they were. 3-4 #. I just expected lighter.

My Dad's were interred in a cemetary plot, he qualified for one of those military headstones...

My daughter's I took to Mom's house, picked every flower i could find blooming in her yard and took the flowers and the ashes to the ocean, and put them into the waves.......

I had thought of having mine spread over my favorite water ski run on Lake Travis, but I dunno...it's a dead end, called Devil's Canyon.....LOL!

You have to pay close attention to the 180 degree turn at the end, to make it a skiing speed without hitting the rocks...:D
