This is where I would have lost it. At first I thought Kimi was sort of consoling Lewis for an "accident" and Lewis was saying "it's ok". But with another look I saw the actual story, the little prick was refusing to accept blame for his idiotic rookie mistake! I hope he gets nailed hard with a penalty for this.

 

TOTALLY different situations!

Monoco--Kimi racing on course coming out of tunnel onto the wet and nearly saving it with brilliant skill--a racing incident.

Canada--two cars stopped at a clearly visible red light in the pit lane and Hamiliton simply barrels into one of them--stupidity.

Not really...Kimi went into the chicane WAAAAYYYY too hot in an attempt to get past Sutil and lost control. That area of the track was dried out at that point. It was an error in judgement that cost another racer a chance to finish on the podium, nothing less.

I agree about Lewis. He was watching his rear views instead of paying attention to the pit light. He mucked up Kimi's race because he didn't pay attention. It was similar to Massa getting black flagged last year for running the red light after the safety car. It was an error in judgement that changed the standings of the WDC.

Both were moments of lapse in judgement. Schu had them, Senna had them, Alonso had them (including today), everyone has them (it's called "Champion's Wall" for a reason). Does that make all of those drivers 'amatuers'?

(Of course, the fact that an 'amatuer' is heavily in the mix for the WDC in his first two seasons says a lot about his abilities)

That was not a pass attempt by Kimi. Watch it again. He didn't pull out to the left before braking like he would have if attempting a pass. A racing mistake while braking on the limit at the fastest part of the track, over a hill crest.

No comparison to Lewis' failure to stop when presented with two red lights and two stopped cars in front of him.

 

I agree they are all prime examples of judgment errors but I still think there is a difference between an on track racing incident and what happened at the end of pit lane today.

I think I'll just sit back and wait to see if the stewards come up with any decisions on the matter.

 

You are making stuff up now. Kimi came out of the tunnel and locked the rear brakes because of a bump on the track. Then showed some great car control trying trying to tame a machine that almost ran away from him, and just ran out of space, which is why he hit Suttil. Immediately he apologized and went to Sutil's garage to do it personally.
And please stop comparing Lewis to the likes of Senna, Schumi etc. Comparing him to them is plain disrespectful to their achievements.

 

While I agree that this was just an racing accident, but it is also unfair to compare this one to Kimi-Sutil accident at Monaco. Kimi lost traction and control of his car, and as a result, running into Sutil. In this case, LH didn't see the red-light in the heat of battle and ran into Kimi. IMO, not the same thing.

 

Yup. It was that type of "I have this in the bag, I'm just going to smirk like a smug little prick and get it over with", attitude that cost him all of those points which lost him the world championship last year. So much from learning from your mistakes.
Schumacher, love him or hate him, never counted his wins before the checkered flag.

 

More of a technicality, but if Sutil had finished in the points a time penalty would have been imposed.

Yeah - You *run* the red lights and you get black flagged.

You try and run 'em by driving over a stationary car - Ruining not just your race but his - The penalty should be severe IMHO..

lol, its only been an hour since the race finish. We are spoiled by having all of Sunday after a morning race to see any decisions. Don't expect it for a few hours and it could take a few days. There really is no hurry.
