Both HK and Massa should have IMO picked up the pieces of there team mates being out of contention and at least one of them be on the podium.

According to some here, the two #2 drivers are the equal of their team leaders, yet when both Kimi and Hamilton are out of the race, neither Massa nor HK stepped up. The McLaren and Ferrari are the class of the field and for both of them to fail to podium is inexcusable.

You NEVER saw guys like Senna or Schumacher miss out on an opportunity like what was handed to both HK and Massa.

HK and Phil are not on the same level as Senna and Schumacher. Why are you expecting them to drive like the once in a generation greats? IMO Massa did wonderful damage control. He kept Ferrari in the WCC points lead, and he is now tied for 2nd place in the WDC points.

Kimi was making up almost a full second a lap before the safety car came out. Many have forgot this because of the pitlane accident. Remember that the Macs grain their tires way earlier than the Ferraris. Kimi would have made up those other 7 seconds very fast.

Rosberg should also have seen the red light but in his defence he was concentrating more on following the car in front of him which came to a sudden stop and there are no brakes made by brembo or anyone else that can stop that fast. Lewis on the other hand should have seen the red light as well but he too may have been concentrating only on the cars in front of him, but they didnt hit anything and he should have seen them slowing as he was at least 8 car lengths behind them. I looked at the video over and over and I believe that he could have made it to the left. He was nowhere near wheel lock. All in all I believe that Lewis lost his composure when he saw both the 2nd and 3rd place cars pass him in the pits.
I liked Lewis a lot and stood up for him many times early last season but slowly little things about his mental atitude started to show. One thing I have always told my crew at the firehall...If you make a mistake admit it and try not to let it happen again and nobody will be on you for too long about it. There was this one guy who would completely screw up over and over and would never admit it even to the point of denying his own voice on the tapes. This type of person has a mental problem and usually believe that they are above the rest in their field. Lewis by not admitting fault or by blaming others for his gross mistake is going down this road and from what ive seen of this type in the past....he wont change and that is truly sad as he has the talent but I dont think he can take the pressure.

I also am starting to wonder about the mental attitude - and yes, he certainly can drive with the best of them. But maybe the godlike status all last season has gotten stuck in the ID somehow.

Just one speculation - is it at all possible that he did see the light, but thought that Kimi and Kumica were going to jump it before it went off; and that is why he put his foot down - in anticipation, so to speak?

Its possible but they would have had to launch out of there to get out of the way. He should also have lined himself up on the left just in case. I think he lost it mentally when he was passed in the pits.

I doubt that there was enough time for those deliberations. Red mist, brain fade, rookie mistake, call it what you will. Kimi seemed not to take it personally getting out of his car after and unless he's said something since I'll defer to his judgment.

Franco, I see thats a fair point,

I try to put myself in the drivers position when judging them instead of just, Ahaha great he's crashed now like the vulture I'am waiting in the wings, I will let fly and torch the twit..
Well I can see that point as well, as it is afterall Ferrari chat.

He must have been in totally mind numbed shocked when he realized he was going to hit them, panic mode, lets face it he was on for a podium finish, possibly a win, so why would he not feel totally gutted..

Crash!! then what happens , you get a camera's stuck in your face mic's hanging on to your every word, when really all you probably want to do is cry and punch something I know I would..

Forget all the outward bravado, you know and I know he must be pig sick, in interviews he gives the party line motivation spiel BS..but very really has to believe he can move on and not dwell on it.

I have seen LH on shows/interviews outside F1, and he appears a decent guy, and believe me I would be the first to say if I thought he was a arrogrant prick in the outside world.

That said I hope you still can cut him slack..drivers at this level IMO cannot or try not to be seen to have a weakness ,his IMO is red mist it appears to be his downfall, sure he may deal with it with experience... I mean I even get it playing Forza on the X box ..;)

I dont judge a driver on what he say's within the F1 circus, but what he does on the track.
I like a laugh and joke like most like, FA is a spoilt brat.... but I hasten to add he is a brillant all round driver IMO ,and would say if I thought he had a bad or good race, Kubica fantastic drives from him head down and doing the business.

Lewis may not fit the bill of all folks as a perfect F1 driver, but I dont know many Champions in..sport that don't upset people on the way up, it's part of the job of getting to be the best.

Well I guess we will just wait and see. I can cut any of the drivers slack....Just one that I cant and I think you know which one. I guess we can be thankfull for one thing and that is the fact that Ted likes Lewis otherwise ;)

I dont know why they have to have these spoilers. If you cant watch a race live or tape it and stay off here untll you watch it then you have a problem.

Linday_Ross' comment is an extension of what the commentators were saying on Fox.

They suggested the Hamilton "brushed it off" after Kimi pointed at the red light.
