How likely would you be to go on the trip from September 18-21?

  1. 90-100% sure I would go, I can't resist a fun trip! :D

  2. 60-90% sure I would go, I like to have fun when work / family allow. :)

  3. 30-60% sure I would go, I rarely get to have fun. :(

  4. I'm just building my post count, I really don't like fun... ;)

I think we had decided the last time we discussed this, that we would not be bringing the wives, girlfriends, ladyfriends, children, etc, etc, etc. So, there would be more driving, ease of finding lodging that is a bit less fancy, beer drinking at night, BBQ, Cheetoes, and macho-sh*t, and much less worrying about broken nails, hair, makeup, and tampons........

As for dates, we want to go when the weather cools a bit, but we need to go before the leaves start falling from the trees (those fallen wet leaves get slippery!). Since a trip in July is hot & too soon to get everyone planned, and Alex is having his run to Orlando in August, that leaves September open. In September, the first weekend is too close to Alex's run. The next weekend is September 11th, which some people have superstitions about flying/traveling. So, the next available weekend is the 18-21st, which is the Thursday through Sunday that tentatively is when we'll go.

I'm interested, but gotta see how the dates work out first; me & the Mrs. will be in Nashville for a wedding the 11th-14th, so it's unknown whether I can get away for the second weekend

I like the dates Fred has called out. I went last year the first weekend of October and the leaves still were on the trees. This is just about the most southern (and latest) area for fall to occur. I'll defer to Fred for his delicate handling of the 'lady' issue.

Who is in charge of arranging for the Trooper escort's????....hehehe!!!!!

Might be a good idea or make some prior arrangements with a Bail Bondsman up there...(those GA Troopers don't have a very good sense of humor when it involves exotic cars in the mountain area's and this statement comes from personal experience).

Just a heads-up from up here in Jawja:

If you want to adjust your schedule, remember that the Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta is on October 4th. And another major annual event, Atlanta Italian Car Day, hasn't been announced yet, but if tradition is followed, it will be on October 11th.

Not to turn this into more of a monstrosity, but since we will be shipping the cars into Atlanta, how about a trip over to T Rutlands or Road Atlanta?

You can plan whatever you want from Atlanta.........river rafting, T Rutlands, Road Atlanta, chasing the boogey man through the forrest naked while covered in crisco and rolled in leaves........................... whatever floats your boat. :)

IMO, that's JUST the stuff I want to avoid. Trying to go drive when there's a zillion other cars there will suck. Crowds, police, lack of places to stay, increased prices, shipping costs higher, restaurants crowded, etc, etc, etc....... In fact, even for our own outing, it will hopefully turn out to be a small group. That makes driving and everything so much easier. Just my opinion.....

+1. I don't need anything but some good BBQ and open roads. A rafting day trip would be cool, but only if the weather is warm. Personally, I like to drive about 6-9 hours per day with maybe 2 breaks to stetch and eat.

That may be fun to go to, but, I still hold with my opinion (and BT's), that less=more when it comes to going there to drive!

I would have loved to go-this kind of road trip sounds like a lot of fun. Unfortunately, Wildcat welcome weekend is from the 19-22 and we are taking our college freshman daughter up to Chicago for it, so that weekend is spoken for. If for some reason you guys decide to change dates to the previous or following weekends, I'll go.

BT, actually the interior is like new, 8 passenger (or 9 Asians). Has a rear spoiler almost like the one on the Boxer. I'm thinking of having Luc paint a Scuderia strip on it.

I spoke to Fred yesterday and agree that having our lady friends would not be the best idea for this event. I am excited about it as long as we keep it around the 18th. My wedding anniversity is on the 5th of September and I have some business commitments at the beginning of the month.

You guys are great but are highly outgunned by your spouses and spousal equivalents. This trip would not be good without the girls. A certain line from deliverance comes to mind; "Hey boy, you have a perty mouth"! Nope, gotta have the girls. So far, I still have my same contact info with a new email address at [email protected]. Stay in touch and let me know if you need anything from the "real south". Now, where did I put that pouch of chew?

Thank God you didn't post this comment in the California or 360/430 section or those guys over there would have tarred and feathered you.

I should know. Last month there was a first time poster asking if anyone would let him borrow their 430 for one night. I saw that the guy's last name was Chang and all I said was "if anyone lends this guy their car there may be a remote possibility that it will be returned smelling like "moo shoo pork".

Even though the comment was probably a little insensitive ("I actually thought it was pretty friggin funny") it took damn near a week for the thread to finally calm down as I was taking a severe beating from what seemed like every Asian on FChat.

I think Ron should have posted "8 passengers, or 9 Asians, or 7 Americans"....Am I suuposed to be offended if you said your car would smell like BBQ if I borrowed it for a night? I would not be offended, because it is true!!! As long as your car does not smell like that soup (cream of sum yung giy), no problems!
