I have a coolant leak. When the engine is shut down I can hear it hissing somewhere at the front of the motor. Is there a common problem I should look for? I can't see in there. If it's a bad water pump can it be fixed without motor removal?
    Thanks for any info.

Was the car running hot? Last year my fan fuse blew and it pushed some coolant out of the overflow tube. Well more than some, it was a bunch.
The answer to the water pump question is no. I'm pretty sure you need to pull out lots of things to get to the water pump including the motor.

remove the trim piece that covers the center of the engine between the intakes. You will then expose the coolant tank. At the front of the tank are 2 small hoses. Trace them down to their connection points. I'll bet one or both of those is leaking. Very common.

In case it is the pump and or it's components. Does anyone have a step by step procedure for it? I am wondering if it a DIY job.

I did find my driver side fan fuse blown which caused the temp to go over 190. Might have increased the pressure causing this. At least the fuse was cheap.

If you're blowing fan fuses you may want to replace your fans( I stole this comment from F355spider). Also IIRC F355spider in the above post #3 knows of a web site on our fans . There was a thread on this a month ago or so. If you do a search you should find it.
On the step by step for removing the water pump it is fairly simple procedure just time consuming. I hate to type so I'll give you a brief description, if you are mechanically inclined you won't need much guidance it's strait forward. Once you open up the area by doing the following: Remove the engine hood and the center cover between the plenums drain both radiators remove the expansion tank, you will see the pump and how you will need to get into it to remove it. ie; remove the drive belt and related hoses etc.. If you have access to a parts book use Tav 22 to see how it is attached to the engine. Like I was saying if you have mechanical ability you will see how it needs to come out.

I had leakage from the same area. Turned out that a hose clamp had cut through a small hose in the center of the upper engine compartment. Fortunately the hose was easily accessible, the cut hose trimmed and a new clamp placed. The temperature gauge NEVER read hot; I saw the leakage from underneath and the overflow reservoir was nearly dry. Good luck!

Now I'm worried cause I lost a small amount of coolant via my overflow hose last night just as I was pulling into my garage... the coolant trailed into my garage, and following it backward down the driveway, seems to have started maybe 10 feet before I reached the garage. Guess I'll check the fuses...
